Timing Belt/Water Pump Service

How much should I look to pay for this? I called a Honda dealer and an Acura dealer today, here's what they said:

Honda: $600
Acura: $675

wtf? i was expecting it to be around 3 bills max...

These two things are part of schedualed maintenence. They are probalby quoting prices for the entire check up and replacement of these parts. If you only want to change the pump and belt, yeah your looking at about 3 bills. If your gonna get your service (i think that is part of the either 90k or 105k service [p.s. i do recommend the service once you hit these miles]) then about 6-7bills is your price.

jerzeyguy, do you mean the maintenance service AND the changing of water pump and timing belt?

97CL22, I can probably do the other stuff myself if i'll save 3 bills

d5c5b, i have 89,400 now...i want to do the thing before i hit 90k

i gotta see what all is involved in the service..gotta do my research.

$42.73 timing belt online
$20.55 other belt online
$62.54 water pump online

$125.82 everything

i think that's everything i need

most of the cost seems to be labor

looks like it's a time-intensive job, at least that's what the book says, and that's what they use to charge...

Replacing the timing belt is a bitch, but that's still a high price for labor. What do you expect from the dealer.

Yeah the dealer is expensive. I got my timing and drive belts and water pump replaced when I got my cam gear and pullies. The whole set up cost me 800 but they installed my gear and pullies, changed my belts, changed my oil, flushed my auto tranny fluid (wish I had a manual) and radiator (although they have to do that anyway because when you take the pump off the fluid comes out) washed and vacuumed my car too. They would have given me a loaner car because it took them 6 hrs but I’m only 18 and they didn't want to give me a TL incase I crashed it or something.... bastards.
