tick tick

Ive realized a ticking sound coming from under my hood towards the left side i think... I only hear it when car is parked and running.

what is this? anything bad? i never heard it before its not loud at all actually pretty quiet but you can notice it

all honda I4s like to tick. its what they do. if it got loud recently maybe u need an oil change or a valve adj. its a trademark honda sound.

Yeah my prelude did it, my CL does it. It sounds a tad loud now so I might take it in for a valve adjustment which is like recommended at a higher mileage.

Lifter may just need adjument. It's a simple job and probably worth getting done to prevent any long term damage if you let it go too long.

I have 63k miles right now... The tick noise i think just started recently.

jus to add to this should i get my timing belt change if im a 97' w/ 63k miles? It says not til 90k but im in the YEAR range. Is there any way to tell?(I dont think so) and how much would it cost at just a regular shop to do? Like my local mechanic estimate?! thankz

i got mine done for 3 bills...and at 91k...63k is too early!!

Nah i wouldn't worry about it. I got it done on my prelude at 120k and that was over 10 years old. The mechanic said it started to get frail, probably another 10-20 k. If you read the manual i think it says to inspect at 90k, that wat it said on my friends integra, but he replaced it anyways because it cost like 1-2 bills to check it or something like that. Also I would get a honda timing belt and not a aftermarket one. I just a bitch about certain parts of the car, bye bye timing belt, usually bye bye engine.

i would just look at the belt to see if it is worn unevenly...you should be fine.

its the lifters, you cant hear it while you are driving because the sound gets higher. change youroil it will go away for a while

lifter determines how the camshaft will react to the balance of the engine combination.

you would have to take your engine apart to see them, they are only about 1" long cylinder objects.
