Three little black buttons?
I've owend my 98 2.3 for a year and a half now, and i have never been able to figure out what those three black buttons by the sunroof are for (i don't have an owners manual)? Can someone please tell me what they are for?

Homelink. You can program them to open a garage door, a security gate and whatever else.

its in the manual...I think you press it once, then press and hold the button while you hold the remote button at the same time...
or something like that. check the manual under homelink.

They're all lying to you! Those buttons are for the oil-slick, smoke screen, and road spikes. You just have to refill the stuff, that's why it hasn't been doing anything.:P

I used to think homelink was the shiznit - but alas, most apt complexes gates don't work properly with homelink anymore...I don't think it can learn the random patterns they use in them...or maybe its just an excuse for my ineptness

if you have rolling code technology on the garage door, you have to consult the manual for the garage door opener. You have to press a button on the actual motor to activate the programming for the opener then program the homelink. This keeps people from just saving your code everytime you use your own opener. It is great so people cant steal your codes like on gone in sixty seconds.

yep, 97's dont have it-- i've heard, that you can take the homelink part from a junkyard and fit it into your car if you dont have one.. although its not an exact fit b/c supposedly the lights are smaller up above in the 98-99
