For theose of you with aftermarket wheels 17" +

Question #1 : : For theose of you with aftermarket wheels...(mainly 18") did u upgrade to bigger brakes? What size rotors did u get? I can feel the loss of breaking power now that i have 18" wheels but do i really have to get bigger rotors? can i live with the OEM ones??

Question #2 For anyone of you who for new bigger wheels, what happend to your stock wheels?? Did u sell them? Im thinkin about sellin mine but ive got a feeling i might want them back later sometime...is there any reason to keep them? (i could sure use the $$ now)

Question 1: You don't need to upgrade to bigger brakes. However, I am now using Brembo cross-drilled/slotted rotors (stock size). You should not notice a difference in breaking with your stock rotors.

Question 2: I kept my stock rims and used 2 of them to mount 16" drag radials for the track. You may want to keep your stock rims if you decided to sell your car.

or you could think about winter also. Winters kill in KC CJ, most people around here switch out their rims so they do not get damaged.

Hold onto your stock ones. You will wish you did when you bend/brake one of those 18's.

I HAVE to get my car lowered within the next month or so.

No difference in braking ability with the new wheels.

Kept my stock wheels and put snow tires on them.

I suggest different pads, they helped my braking greatly.

Also, I kept my stock rims, they have come in handy ALOT. Esp. if you bend a rim or something. But also, i'll put them on the car when I sell them, that way I can get some money on my 18's

#1. I have 18's and I think the stock brake system is suffice, I dont feel a loss in breaking power.

#2. KEEP THE STOCK ONES!!!!!
I just bent my front right rim yesterday on a f*cking
New York F*cking City Pothole and now I wish I had my stock rims. My front right is now rolling on the damn spare tire til i can find me a new rim, I just called wheelmax.com (place where i got my 18's) and they dont freaking have my rim in stock. GREAT.

So let me stress this again....STAY WITH YOUR STOCK WHEELS!

I sold my stock wheels for $100 and now I regret it soo much. I would much rather have my stocks right now than the $100 which I dont even rememeber what the heck i spent it on
(probably at a bar, )

how much do stock rims weigh? How do you bend a rim I have never bent a rim well one time when I was in highschool I was driving my dads 1993 toyota paseo and drove it up onto the curb because I was reaching for something... it was in a parking lot.. cut the tire and it was gone... car landed on the rim and put a dent in it. but then the car was fine... is that what you guys mean by having a bent rim? I don't think that dent messed up the alignment, driving capabilities of that rim, then again they were some stock crap black ones because of hubcaps.

Like ghander said, you'd be better off going 2 and 2. But even putting only one is better than riding on the donut for a long period of time.

I got 18's and have oem brakes. Also all 4 of my rims are sitting in my garage for when I sell my car or need them.

DO like I did, save your stock rims for winter, you don't want to bend your 18's like I did last winter and end up buying new ones.

As for the brakes, don't get bigger, get better! I upgraded my brakes to Brembo cross drilled/slotted rotors and better pads. Makes a big difference in stopping the vehicle.

Enjoy the ride, and hide them stock rims. My switch out dates will be October 1 for the stock rims and April 1 for the aftermarket 18's.
