Test pipe

has any one put on a test pipe on there 2.3 4cy cl. My friend has a 95 probe gt and adding a test pipe gave him noticable power. But the probe is a v6 and I dont know if releasing back pressure on the 4cy will help as much or at all. Also how good do the stock exhaust systems flow. Would it be worth getting an aftermarket or custom 2 1/4 or 2.5" manderl bent exhast or not.

Thanks

Dam calm down its not like your post fell off the 1st page or anything.
To answer your question I have an obx racing cat on my 2.3. Its off a 94-97 accord fits perfectly but it doesnt really make a huge difference. Deffinately get 2 1/4 inch custom cat back exhaust. Don't get anything bigger than 2 1/4 inch or you'll lose back pressure.
Do a search and you'll see racing cats have been discussed before.

I would do exhaust and intake before I did the high flow cat.

I have a Type X racing cat. Does not come with O2 sensor bung, you'll have to disable it.

you can be cheap like me, take your cat off, have a pipe made to bold on, and weld the heat shields to it so the po's dont fuck wit ya...gave me a lot more power on my accord, and did on my CL to.

I bought an mufler for the sound and then when i had it installed, had them cut all my piping and now i have 3" from the headers to the mufler....great BIG difference.... My bigger piping brought a nice bigger "kick" when i punch it now

(oh, i got the mufler for $150 and the install/new piping for $50...hehehe....it helps to know people.)

Did you lose some torque with that piping? Normally 3" piping is reserved for turbos or v-8's.

I dont think so...(never dynoed) but if anything, ive felt a better difference...i dont think i lost anything. Ive always heard the bigger the piping the better the flow and the more HP and torque...so i guess i didnt?? not sure...it just feels like i didnt.

Im talking about a test pipe and not a high flow cat guys. And getting a test pipe is a good thing to get before the cat back because its cheap and it replaces the most restrictive part of the exhaust. The stock piping on a 4cy really dosnt need to enlarged much if any. You might gain 5hp with a cat back system on the 4cy cl. Headers are also a good idea before cat back because that replaces the second most restrictive on the exhaust. Those to mods combined give much more power that the cat back for a fraction of the cost. My main question again is has anyone put on a test pipe not high flow cat on there 2.3 cl and noticed a good power gain. I have quite a bit of experiance with modding cars and am new to th Cl. I own a 13 sec 96 talon and a high 14 sec 95 probe gt which all the work I have done myself. And 3" exhaust is too big for the 3.0 cl for sure. It will only help if you run nitrous or are turbo charged or super charged. 2.5 woud be the ideal size for the 3.0. Sorry for the long post and thanks for any info.

Looks like a test pipe to me. Does it have to be custom to be a "test pipe"...nope.

I think you're confusing yourself.

Yup yup. Mines basically the same exact thing a hollow pipe that is premade.
