Arrow Swapping Music System...need input

Hi Guys,

I am thinking of replacing the OEM music system with an after market one. Can some one give me input to the following questions.

Which after market music system will be compatable with the steering controls? I mean do you get systems out there that can be hooked to the steering controls using an adapter haranessl...any make & model numbers please?

What kind of speaker should I use to replace the stock speakers ( I do not wish to go the performace route as I need the trunk space)?

Any specific combinations that anyone out there has installed that sounds nice??

Please any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thank You
Javed

You will need an adapter harness for the steering wheel controls, be careful on the mounting depth because our stock locations are very shallow, I'd recommend some infinities, boston accoustics, or JL's especially if you're not looking to add bass

hard to answer your questions w/o giving us your budget. I only replaced HU because I was pretty pleased with stock speakers. But then again i was only focusing on adding more bass to my car.

Hi Guys,

I would say my budget for the HU would be around $130 and BTW i juts bought a 6"x9" sony x-plod's off of ebay they say 300 watts is the ratings for these speakers. The front speakers also will be sony x-plods 220watts I guess. Now the only question remaining will be what kind of system will be compatable with the steering control and that can handle the wattage of my speakers.

Any inputs???

Javed

yea i replaced the entire system last week, took a long freakin time, about 20-24 hours of work in the shop because the magnets on the mbquarts a lot bigger then the pos bose ones, but it had to be done, they are pce216's (6.5 woofers and 1 inch tweeters) all around powered by a kicker 600.4, sounds really nice with a tv that can do dolby digital, some bass helps as well

i'm not a fan of your budget...you get what you pay for, at least MSRP-wise:

ex) sony and other "value" brands aka blow/distort/poorly reproduce sound

or on the opposite end of the spectrum:

ex) focal, morel, a/d/s, mb quart or JL (but you can always get deals, out of box sales are unreal)

i have an amalgam of brands in my car, but be assured they all perform exactly how i want them to...........so just get out there and spend a little bit of time and listen/test some shit and find something that is cheap but doesnt sound like it is

sorry, i'm a sound q nazi....i fukin HATE getting into vehicles with shitty quality audio....and pretty much e-jac it everytime a get into my uncles LX470 with mark levinson audio, or my car, obviously

my for a Headunit do NOT go with sony.... i had a sony HU a few years back and if you had a fingerprint on a CD it skipped.... I did research and went with Clarion- I got my clairon HU for $100 plus shipping new online (not from ebay)- its the 2nd clairon HU i have owned and love it...its flip down face, MP3, AUX out for my IPOD- and very good sound quality

if you enough searching you can find great electronics cheap on the www...just becareful not to get scammed...luckly i haven't yet!!

i still have the stock speakers (not bose) and have a JL 12w3 sub

very happy with my setup--- except i am lacking about 1/2 of my trunk....

good luck man there is unlimited choices....

try these website for good deals and open box items....i have bought from them before and they are legit
