Suspended License

so i was wondering if someone could help me out. i got this ticket a while ago for leaving the scene of an accident in ny even tho i live in nj...and i didnt get the court date till a couple months ago cuz i was pleading not guilty. anyway....i couldnt make it to that date so i asked them to reschedule it for me...and they said it would be sometime this month. i hadnt received any notice so i called the court up today and they told me that my court date was supposed to be march 27...and i explained to them that i didnt get any notice of the date and they told me that there was nothing they could do and that my license is suspended and that i have to pay $105 to pay for bail and drop my suspension....but i dont have the money right now. i didnt receive anything from the dmv saying that my license is suspended either. do you think its okay to drive until i come up with the money? is my license suspended in nj as well? thanks.

dude... i live in LA... half of the peeps down here either have a suspened lic. or no lic. at all... it just depends on how you drive.. u could drive just dont do anything stupid to get caught.. if they said ur lic. is suspened, they arent just talkin bout NY, they are talkin about the whole USA.. the reason you still have ur lic in ur pocket is because its required by law to carry ID at all times when out of yer home. schedule another court date and speak to the judge.. u may get a cool judge that may be leaniant on the fine and stuff. but goodluck with that!

If im not mistaken you should be fine driving in NJ. If you do something stupid enough to end up behind bars, they will run a check with the other states before they let you out. I might be wrong. Maybe NJ & NY have a special law where NY infractions are enforced in NJ and vice versa. Try not to use the car unless you really need to.
What type of problem did you have that you fled the scene?

I don't see how ny would be able to touch your nj license -- nj ppl wipe ass with ny tickets (just don't get pulled over in ny or else u getting cuffed); however, what they do is try to attack your credit rating/try to get you in the pocket (increase your fine every month/leins/repo/garnish wages/shit like that), so if you have somethin to lose, it's better just to take care of it sooner. Mebbe they're just trying to scare u by saying your'e suspended.
I'd check with trenton, ask them to check your status...and next time you bump someone, make sure all's well before you jet (in a slowass cl especially, lol -jk), if it was you or your girl that got hit, you'd want that person to stop, y'know?
g'luck.

dude ur licence is suspended everywhere they always run a check on ur licence in der in car comps thats how they know ur a fugitive or not but that also gives them ur entire record from all over us so drive but obey all speed limits if u see a cop just smile and wave and then flip them off wen u know they cant see you. lol. and just hope u dont get in a accident till after u get ur licence back cause then ur insurance doesnt cover shit either if ur licence is suspended.

I know this because my shit was suspended awhile back cause i had too many unpaid parkin tickets. But i had a coo cop dat told me exactly that he was a cop hater, cop lol

What the hell are you talking about? It is not required by law in the U.S. that you cary ID. He probably has his license in his posession because he was ticketed and not arrested. They only take your license if it is expired or suspended at the time of the traffic stop. And yes, law dictates that you must have your license in your posession if you are in Actual Physical Control of a vehicle or if you wanted to buy beer or cigarettes. But as for just walking down the street, this ain't Cold War Russia. You do not have to cary ID. And if he were to be stopped today, they would take his license and arrest him for driving under suspension.

Besides, if your license is supended and you have an incident, your insurance has the option to not honor the policy because you were not technicly licensed. Best bet, don't get stopped and get that shit taken care of. Most people don't drive on suspended licenses, only those who have let there situations get out of control do that. And in my opinion, they get what they deserve when it happens.

sorry to hear that man... I got a summons that I never went to court for, its been more then a yr.. I didn't get pulled over yet.

I worry I'm going to be spending a night in center booking for this shit.. And what scares the shit out of me is that I might get pulled on a Friday night and come out the following monday. I'm going to turn myself in or some shit...

You can get a lawyer... thats what I would do.

well that shit happened to me.. i was just walkin to McDOnalds down the street from my house ( i was wearin sweat pants and a hoodie so i didnt take my wallet, just 5 bucks) cops pulled up, threw up the blinding flood lights on my ass and told me to get against the wall... didnt really give me an explaination (said i fit the profile of a tagger), patted me down and asked for my ID. Told them i didnt have it on me cause i just was just goin to mcdonalds, then told me that it was the law to have it on u at all times...

maybe they were just being assholes to me cuz of where i live (not the best place in the world)

did you know that the police aren't even allowed to look in your trunk unless you authorize them
last time i got stopped they searched my car for no reason
on top of that they gave me a racist remark
