Supercharger update

Here is a some info from MIke B at Comptech:Colov6cl

Why wont the supercharger be sold for the 97-99 3.0 cl's? Is there a problem with Hood Clearance? Will a Comptech header still work with the setup? Any E.T.A. on the supercharger?

The engine compartment for the 3.0CL is different and we don't think it will fit. Our headers will work with the s/c on the Accord/TL/CL-S. The design has been finalized and we're in the process of making tooling etc. to build the various parts. It also still needs to go to the CARB lab for emissions certification. My best guess for availability is around Feb. or March.

"don't think it will fit" = They probably haven't even tried to fit it. Maybe they think there is no market for it. So all you 1st-genr's who want this should email Mike B and let em know there is a definite market for it.

Ross, I like to think it will fit too. Maybe some daring 1st gen with $$ to spare will try it when the sc comes out!

It might fit It looks like the shaft that's in front of the engine may be too long. Not sure though. Emailing comptech isn't a bad idea either!

Well, I'm gonna get it and make it fit. Tired of having a $30,000 car that gets beat by $15,000 ones.

well, I personally on the phone have spoken to 5 reps at comptech... they said the SC is being worked for the v6 accord... and that they are planning on dropping it into a 98 3.0 cl that a comptech employee owns for testing... If it works the Accord SC will also be a 97-99 CL SC... and all 5 reps stated the same facts!!!! It will fit and will be in our car if all goes well with the Accord(currently in testing) and the CL test!

Wow, got me intrigued...

What kind of times should I expect with the SC installed? And how much will it end up costing?

They are stating on the DL an expected release is end of 2002 if it works in the CL.... It willl onlyt give btwn 45 and 75 HP due to our week ass auto- transmissions (Comptech words exact)...
it will cost around $4500.00....

It'll proabably cost 4200 for the charger and around 2G's for the necessary tranny upgrades from Level10 or uprd. I would gues mid to low 14's. With I/H/E and charger, torque converter, and a unichip... hopefully somewhere in the 13's. You won't be a drag superstar but you'll beat s4's.

45-75 HP? That's quite a range. Is that tunable or just a guestamate at this point?

the SC can put out 70hp, yes, but they are not sure what the transmission will hold!

You must have added lots of dealer accessories to get the price to 30 Gs.

My buddies s4 with boost controller, knn, exhaust is putting down 243@ the wheels. His car is also A LOT heavier. With sc, I/H/E/, and some tranny work, you should definetely beat s4's. That's my goal at least.

Casper,

Just wanna say "THANK YOU VERY MUCH" for that piece of inside info on the s/c & the CL at Comptech. With Altimas & Maximas coming out with 255hp engines, I wouldn't mind anything to add to our CL's in the range of up to 75hp! I just hope it passes testing and comes out sooner.
