ok, so I just took off my CAI a few hours ago because winter is coming around, and I also want to take off my engine mods so that I can do a "stock" engine dyno, so after I install my Exhaust, cams, pullies, VAFC2 tuned, helix spacer, thermoblok spacers I can redyno and find out exactly how much of a gain it all got me. I'll be removing my headers tommorow.
anyways, I took off the CAI and did a seafoam job on my engine, and after having the CAI on my car only a couple months after I got it and now removing it the engine sounds soo incredibly quiet/weird to me. I still have the headers on and I didn't install the resonator with it, just the box with the filter and the hose from teh box to the throttle body.
So I was going WOT a lot to clean out all the smoke from teh sea foam, and when I first went WOT I was like "wtf, why is it so quiet? Is my engine not warm?" and I glanced down at my RPMS and temp gauge and both were in teh range where I normally hear the intake screamin, then I rememberd I put the stock airbox back in and thogh "doh". AFter a few WOT runs, I notices a slight whistle/whine and I could swear it sounds just like a supercharged engine, lol. Good shit.
It'll be even better when I get a turbo installed and i hear that turbo spooling up.

pwnt. well I can already notice hte lost power from taking off the CAI I have to give it more gas now in 3rd gear at a 40-50 roll to get teh same acceleration
I'm sure this whistle/whine is just because I don't have the resonator on the air box.

My car is 3.0
I have a new belt; I still heard the whinning sound from the Intake's side of my car
It just happened during 2500 to 3000 rpm
After I added the SRI, the sound is much louder
Anything wrong with my car? or it is normal?

haha. You getting a UR pulley eh? I got one too! Just to tell you if you are going to do it yourself, you need this special tool, and its a bitch to do! Everything is got to line up right, otherwise you are going to mess up the engine and it will make that noise. When you get belts make sure you get the ones that have ridges across it thats the "quite" belts.

IMO it's not worth taking all that stuff off for something "might" happen. BTW, what would happen? I leave all my shit on and I live in an area of lots of snow and ice.
Mike,
CAI, Cold Air Intake
Sea Foam, cleans the carbon build up.
