Subwoofer System
I was looking for some subs and amp and stuff for my 1999 2.3CL and the guy helping me said that a subwoofer system will sound like garbage in my car because of the bose system. Did they have bose systems in the cars then...I have the premium model if that makes a difference. How would i go about checking to see if i have the bose system? I cant see the model name anywhere on the player or speekers. The guy said that it was because the bose system has low frequency or something like that. Can someone explane this further??? I have never heard of anything about that?? This guy sounded like an asshole so i thought that i would get better advice before quitting on the idea of subs. Thanks all.

I am not 100 percent sure, but i believe that if you have the bose system it says it on the cd player, and on the speaker grills. Now what he is saying is not 100 percent true. Me and my friend have added a sub and amp to a camaro with a bose system and it sounded fine.. What you wouldn't really be able to do is replace the factory speakers without upgrading the head unit. So pretty much if you ever want to do that, you will have to do it all. I am by no way an expert in car audio, but have installed alot of systems, and semi know what i am talking about... Chris

If it doesn't say Bose on it, then use the wire harness for Honda cars up to 1997 (it should be a long white harness, as opposed to a short blue harness). And no, it will not sound like crap. Check my sig.

It doesn't sound like crap at all, tell him to go and fuck himself!
You can even run the second amp with the factory system and have no problems, my installer did that with my box and amp and it sounded great. I just removed it from the CL before I traded it in last week. Make sure you get a professional to do the install and not circuit City or Best Buy - thay all suck at their work and you can tell them I said so.
Hell, if you want you can buy my old system for $200.
Crunch 800 watt amp with 2 12" Crunch subs in a box that fits perfectly between the wheel wells in the trunk of the 1st Gen CL's. Check my www for pics if you like.
