Alright so im comming home from school with some guy in a white stratus is in front of me. I get into the left lane on a 3 lane highway and pass him and then accelereated to 80. I look in my rear view and dont see him so i figured that he was doing the same and wanted to race a bit. He speeds by me before a long turn almost hitting the divider. A car slows him down to 60 and i pull up to him. As soon as the car got out of the way he punched it and me seeing that he was pulling away did the same also reducing it into D3. I had to let off the gas a couple of times while catching up because i was too close to him. I could not pass him because there was traffic on the right side. The last speed that i saw on my speedometer was 125 the entire time being in D3 and still accelerating.

This being said, what do them stratus' have under the hood?

Im just happy that he had the pedal to the floor (i could hear his engine) and i was at about 3/4 travel when i was catching up.

Uhm, it doesn't sound like a kill, if you were chasing him down or "catching up to him." But hey, 125mph in D3, good for the slushmatic to spin out the cob webs.

if it was a newer one, i know they got dual cam 2.2 i believe, thats what my friends has, but its weak as shit

when i had my CL D3 on mine would max out at around or a lil after 110...........if i remember correctly

 

because thats where it cutts out 110

if your shooting 120+ in D3 something is wrong

Damn, it didnt take me long to find out where this thread was gonna go. 3.0>2.x

 

Which generation stratus was it? If it was the first gen, it came with three engine choices, 2.0L, 2.4L & 2.5L. The 2.0L have 5 speed manual and the other two had auto. The only reason I know this is cause that was my first car.
The 2.0L puts out bout 130 hp,
2.4L - 140 hp, 160 t (thats the one i had)
2.5 was around 150 hp i think.

these cars are quick off the line. I remember a couple of months after I got my license and went to race a 240sx, early 90's, and he won by a fender but i didn't have the gas down all the way so i think i would of won.

The 3.0 would of taken all of them and you prob had a chance at a roll but not from a stop with the 2.x. my

It was one of the newer ones. Prolly like an 05 or so.

and he passed me because i didnt see him and didnt know where he was. What i mean is that i thought that he would be in my rear view and when i didnt see him i looked over and there he was speeding by.

I wanted to pass, but didnt have room. When he had slow down because of that car, thats where the road came down to 2 lanes. When i tried to pass him, i ran out of room because of the car in front of me that we were passing. If that car was not there, then i would have passed him right away.

And I did notice that in 3rd gear, wherever the tach needle is, is exactly the same place that the Speedometer needle is. Sooo 4000 rpm is 70mph and right before the it starts rebounding at 6500, its at a lil over 122 or so. Then again i looked down for only a second sooo there might have been a lil bit of an error in lines.
