Angry Stone Headers Installed=Car Goes To Hell

Well ive been carless since friday and everyday it gets worse. My buddies installed my stone headers for me on saturday and right after the headers were installed i drove it and when i hit the gas the car would barely move and the only way i could put it in gear was by using the shift lock release cause it was locked up in park. Luckily acura was close by and i had to drive like 25 in a 55 lookin like an old grandma goin down the road. It's been at acura since monday and so far all i know is that my o2 sensors got stuck in my downpipe and effed it all up and now acura says they HAVE to put my stock ones back on and the bill's running close to 800 dollars to fix. Well im goin up to acura right now with my friend who installed it to find out exactly what the problem is and how we're gonna deal with the money issues since it was their fault and i did pay them 200 for it. So ill be back with more info later. SO GHEYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

by their you mean your friend right? was it at a shop or was it just in your garage or what?

Your friend's retarded. How does the o2 sensor get stuck in the downpipe.. its the kind of thing you check to make sure IS WHERE it's supposed to be before you start the car again.

Personally, i'd kick your friends ass but I'd also kick my own if this happened.

sorry and I hope it gets fixed.

Good luck.

-Alex

(ps. hope you didnt pay your friend anything in labor)

edit: ok holy shit. You payed your "friend" 200 dollars to chop job your stone headers and now its costing you four times that much or more to fix it? yikes.

-Alex

by their i mean them. It was two of my friends actually. They just opened their own store called dynamic racing and i figured they could do it with no problem since they own a car shop but yea i didnt have time to stick around for the install so they told me 200 for labor. Acura told me that the o2 sensor is stuck in the downpipe and they cant get it out so unless i can do it looks like my stone headers are effed up. I dont really know the actual specifics yet but im goin up to acura with my buddy after i get outta class to find out for sure but thats all i know so far. Well damn i wish i had a friend like hybridnrg. I'd rather have bought them breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the install instead. The main reason for paying them 200 was cause i got a quote from velocity trends at $460 which made me so i said fuck it.

Sounds to me like they're going to rape you with a o2 sensor story and then tell you that it was the tranny. Don't get owned twice. Make sure is not your tranny, because to me it sounds like it is. Is your car auto?

Damn, what a rip. You can just drill through the o2 sensor and break the lil thing and then buy a new one to replace it with so you can still use your aftermarket headers. I really can't remember an o2 sensor on the downpipe though. Been so long since I've had my car.

good news guys!! i got away from acura with a $200 bill instead of $800. so what happened with the whole tranny issue was a loose connection between the ecm and the tcm. thats the reason for the car staying in shift lock and not accelerating. my friend said he had nothing to do with that but iunno?? what do yall think? but yea the o2 sensor deal was their fault so theyre gonna fix it instead of acura. acura was gonna charge $300 for a new o2 which is freakin ridiculous!! The reason acura wanted to put the stock headers back on was cause they couldnt take the o2 sensor out but my friend said he could do it so i'll just leave it up to him.

cause they were 206$ shipped and i heard from some people that they're just as good as comptech but not quite.

but i did drive it for the first time and damnnnn!!!! i felt the gains all over the place. I feel like a new man now....not really but it was worth it. other than the whole faulty connection. Its sweet. just gotta get the o2 sensor straightened out and ill be fine.

Wow, how does it sound? I read that the headers make the 3.0 rumble... love that back preasure sound when I down shift, I can only imagine what it is like with the headers. Good luck with the O2 sensor. Should just unscrew.

naw........youll be fine with the headers. They just placed the o2 sensors right on top of the header and thats why it effed up. If you do it right you should be fine. The transmission thing was because of something unrelated to the headers. i think. but yea v6's sound DAMN GOOD with headers! It rumbles like a motha. I love the sound too. but it wont unscrew. acura said that they broke like 3 of there tools trying to get it out and it still wouldnt come out.

That's your problem, I can't believe they charged you $200 and then jacked your car up.

Yea well the reason for the car acting all fucked up was cause of the loose wires from the ecm to the tcm and that wasnt there fault. The o2 sensor was their fault and their gonna fix it on saturday. I dont think theyre noobs either. When they were talking to the mechanic at acura they knew exactly what he was talking about and to me it seemed like they knew a lil bit more since acura doesnt know how to take the o2 sensor out of the down pipe and just wanted to say the hell with it about my headers. acura's saying that my headers are done for and to put my stock headers back on but my friend knows how to fix it. My car isnt jacked. anymore. It feels 10 times better than before with the headers and i think 200 is way better than 460. Plus im gonna try and get a vafc from them for like 50% off so im probally getting a good deal on that.

yeah ehhh this one time .... at band camp i mean at acura they told me I had a cat inside my engine and and and they wanted a bazillion dollars to fix

Think what you must but Acura dealerships are overrated. Yes they have genuine parts but $25 for oil filter. FUCK OUT OF HERE!!! Don't believe everything they say especially at mechanics shop. Damn now a days finding a trustworthy mechanic is like finding a life partner.

yea......it was throwing a p1655 and they said the o2 was bad so they cut it. But my friend's buying an aftermarket o2 sensor and replacing the bad one so i dont have to pay for it eitherway.
