Stock CD player

First off, great to see acura-cl.com back again!

For the stock CD player on a '99 CL, I'm taking an educated guess and just assuming that it does not have RCA outs, that it just has line-level outputs on the back. True? If I wanna hook up 2 pairs of RCA's, is there to sets of line-out's so I can hook up converters?

no but u can buy things that take speaker level outputs to rca but i dont really know how good the sound quality is when u do that. thats what u mean by converters right? and there is front and rear outputs so u could have a front and rear setup i guess.

I wanted to improve the miserable stock Bose system, yet keep the original deck for appearance, security system, and that cool button on the steering wheel. So I have the outputs converted (you're right, no RCAs) and run into a crossover, then one amp for the interior speakers and another for the subs. I replaced the interior Bose speakers with JL Audio and also have 8" long-throw JL subs in custom box in trunk. It sounds incredible. The stock player sounds real good, don't replace it.

I will be using an amp putting out 85x2 to the front speakers. Like C030CL, I would like to keep the original deck mainly for stealth purposes at this time, and I really like those steering wheel controls! And if there are two outputs on the back, then that will help connecting 2 pairs of RCA's. May as well run two RCA's now in case the deck gets replaced sometime next year...

Agreed. Our stock Bose system is rather weak. Even compared to like the ultra basic systems found in late model VWs and some domestic cars our "premium" speakers disappoint -- even for those totally not into sound systems and stuff.

Yeah, that's one feature I really wished Acura had put on our '97 models. But... after hearing of how a handful of owners report stations changing or CD tracks being skipped it makes me a little grateful not to have that. A friend of mine suggested that if I wanted to have a good remote system on the car I/we could just upgrade to aftermarket set-ups. That might prove to be the easiest way to get that convenience on a '97.
