Stiff ride???

I've heard alot of people say that coilovers give you a much stiffer ride. why is this so? isn't coilover the same thing as springs, except that it is adjustable? i want to slam my car, but at the same time would like to know that i could raise it, if i were to go on long trips or something like that. would i be able to adjust the coilovers myself? what kind of coilovers would be the best for my car? would i alo need a camber kit as well? how about shocks or anything else?

I have never had coilovers but I can tell you that long trips are no problem with my springs. I would think that other brands would be fine too. The ride seems smooth as stock, as long as you don't hit any potholes.

I have coilovers and they ride rough, I had to get a camber kit, also, you can raise and lower the coilovers yourself, but when you do that, youll have to go get your camber kit adjusted aswell, and pretty much calls for an alignment, and coilovers ride stuff casue they are vary short springs with little to no play in them, most springs have alot of play so your car wont feel every lil bump on the road, and coilovers do not have that same play, I like my coilovers though cause I dont think they make springs that go as low as my car sits, but sometimes I wish I had springs cause of some roads in my town, good luck with your decision and let us know what you go with (as far as which coilovers are better, theirs non really better than another, they all have the same design and structure, thier just different colors)

thanks for your input 30CLstyle... i'll definately take your advice. you're car is the shit. that's where i want mine to head towards. what kind of coilovers did you get? i'm planning on getting ground control coils. also, how low did you lower it? like 2.5 inches? any rubbing? i'm thinking of just sticking to stock rims, and just dropping the bitch and a camber. what u think?

well, I dont know exatly how low I went but it was as low as I could go without the tires rubbin the wheel well, but Ive only scrubbed the gound a few time and they wherent bad, I got APC coilovers (I hate the color, their like thinks mustered yellow color), but I put them on with my 18's, thanks for the comment on my car, stock rims wouldnt look bad pending on the stock rims you have, but I prefer bigger rims. but I have seen a CL with stock rims that looked tight, but let me know what you deside

hmmm whats up w/ your rims????

I have eibach sports (2" drop), tokiko shocks (blues)...
ride is rough, but bareable... I am contimplating going to coilovers myself... I am willing to sacrifice to a harder ride for better performance... and better looks.. no matter what, when you go low, you need to change your shocks... you change your shocks you chamge your ride!
