Cool Squeeling brakes

I had my rear brakes redone at the local Acura dealer just under a year ago and it was squeeling a bit but nothing to noticeable. However, it has been getting progressively worse and it does not occur when I come to a full stop but when I press my brake pedal about half way down.

The rotors were resurfaced and the dealer also "chamfored" the pads to round off its edges (and what I have been advised to help remove brake dust). It looked like the noise was reduced but the squeel is still there. Could it be that the resurfacing was done poorly and should I just get new rotors?? Anyone else have the same problem??

Everything is OEM and I only put about 20000Kms on the new pads.

Any information would be helpful.

arent you supposed to get new pads when you resurface/replace rotors?

Yes the pads installed were new. Supposedly they sanded the pads down a bit to make sure they were not glazed or something.

are you sure it's not your front brake pads that aren't making the squeeling?

Positive. I had the Acura techs check that as well and they confirmed the noise was from the rear.

I don't mind paying for new rotors but I want to make sure that squeeling stops (or most of it) as I find it mildy embarassing driving a car like ours and having the brakes squeel as though my car is not being maintained properly

its most likely becuase the dealer got cheap by putting too little brake grease on the back of your pads..

go to the dealer, and ask them put more grease between the pads and the piston.. u shouldnt have to pay for it.. just tell them.. or do it yourself.. its super easy!

Interesting. Never heard brakes squeeling due to lack of grease. I'll give it a shot anyways.
