Squeeking comming from Heater Core?

I've done a search and no one seems to have the same problem. I am looking for some insight. I have a squeeking sound comming from the heater core, i think. Its comming from the black unit below the dash behind the glove compartment. Its been getting worse and it sounds like a bearing for the return fan. Anyone have luck lubercating this part. Just looking for some intel, before i go ripping apart the dash.

yessir i just replaced my blower motor in my car. it was horrible sounding and it is the bearing apparently according to texas honda. And no you cannot lubricate the part, it is a sealed unit, and is impossible to open up as it is one plastic piece.
i took the easy way out when replacing my motor, as others would probably recommend taking apart the dash, but i just do not have enough time or patience for that. the only downside is that it is very hard to remove/replace the blower motor this way, and you have to kinda force it in and out. It seems fine tho, the amount of manipulation doesn't seem to affect the tho as my new one is running perfectly.
there is a power connector and 3 screws that you need to undo in order for the motor and fan to drop down. Do all these steps before unscrewing and dropping the motor and fan tho: in order to get enough room you need to pull back the carpet in that section aswell. This means you will have to remove the kickpanel in the corner that is ontop of the abs module, after you remove that remove the door sill. and then there is an interior clip at the front most part of the carpet in the middle of the passenger footwell(it's on the ledge part, you need to remove this so you can pull the carpet far enough back. then all you do if pull the carpet away from the front right corner, drop the blower motor down and angle it out, it will scratch on the metal floor, but will make it out with a bit of manipulation and a little pulling on the housing it goes into.
If this isn't clear enough(which it probably isn't) or you need any more info, you can PM me. Probably won't be back on AZine for a day or two tho

If you want to do it by taking apart the dash i cannot help you tho, as it seems a lot more complicated too. I think i saw someone on here do a diy for that tho, for something to do with the ac condenser or something.
Good Luck

^ Thanks for the info....if it bothers me enough I'll do it. Definately not taking the dash out though. Where did you get the part from?

^ya np. and if it's just squeaking right now it will get worse, but it's not like it damages anything by leaving it. i bought mine brand new from acura it cost me like 140 with a discount(but i am in canada so most things are more expensive), just cuz i wanted to make sure i got the right one too, couldn't find many on ebay, but they have quite a few now, like this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-B...Q5fAccessories

ya taking the dash out seemed to not make any sense to me either, but that screw at the back of the motor is an absolute bitch to get out, unless you have some crazy ass tools

EDIT: here is the link to my thread i made for this, it contains a video of the worst the sound got in my car. which was riddiculously loud, and also a kinda related diy for integras, altho they have enough room that they didn't have to pull back the carpet etc...

Thanks man, you've been a huge help. That ebay links is great, and i'll have to listen to that other link later. Mine sounds like a mouse is in the blower fan.... Thanks again!

wow, mine doesn't sound half that bad, but definately sounds like the bearing is going in mine. Doesn't seem that bad, but I will have to get under there tomorrow and have a look. thanks!

when i bought my car, the sound was pretty bad. i used to just smack it with something and it would stop. after a few months, it almost disappeared. it still does it occasionally, but definitely not enough for me to care anymore.

What a coincidence, I think this exact problem appeared in my car for the first time tonight It's squeeking like some sort of an exotic bird. Seems to be somewhere below the glove compartment. Became louder if I turned the fan up, and went away if I shut it off.

for the time being you can just hit it like shnee said, as that's what i did. And it won't affect anything else by getting worse. you can see it if you look underneath and behind your glovebox. there's a pic of what the unit is in the ebay ad i listed.

Around how long does it take to replace this guy? Never done any car work, but I am not technically challenged.

umm, depends on how often you do these kinds of things and how easy that panel is to remove/replace on yours. Can be done in an hour easily(being really generous, don't know how long it took me), i explained all the steps in my previous posts and that's really as simple as it is. The only problems for me were removing that kick panel thing, the screw/bolt at the back holding in the unit(as there is barely any room to get anything in there, i think i used an 8mm socket with different attachments to get it off, as for tightening it just did it hand tight as the other two can hold in the unit themselves) everything else is pretty much cake, took me maybe 10 mins to get the replacement it and put everything back. let me know if you have any more questions
