Springs/Torsion Bars for trunks with oem spoilers

Okay so after like about a year and a half that I've had my car (with the spoiler) I finally decided to get the springs or torsion bars (whatever they're called) for my trunk. I got tired of the damn trunk hitting the back of my head. So now my question is how the hell do you install them???? I tried taking the old ones out but it's hard as hell!!! I just basically got them out of the little clip but that was as far as I got. Has anyone done this to thier car??? If so what tools did you use??? Do I need any type of special tool???? I did a search but from all the threads that I read not one explains how to change the bars!! Someone please help!!!!!!!

it is hard as hell... I used a pair of vice grips on the ends to twist the bar... and pop it out of the holders... but i'll warn you now, they are under tremendous tension... so its very easy to get badly hurt.

The stronger ones are even more dangerous... If you cant do it, pay someone to do it... ive only done it once, and thank god I dont have a 3 foot long metal bar sticking out of my forehead. I wouldnt mess with them again.

This takes a few minutes at the dealer with the right tool.Don't risk getting hurt wrestling with these things if you can avoid it.Jens

i have the ww spoiler eom style for my car and the trunk doesnt fall unless un on a hill. maybe the ww is lighter then the oem one. idk. but sounds like a good idea. how much did the stronger bars cost? also are they thicker? cuz they almost hit my aftermarket 6 x 9s as it is. i got like 1/8" clearance no joke

Repo...I know you already PM'ed me but I'm going to post here so that maybe someone w/ a first gen can help out. I have a torsion spring adjustment/installation tool for sale. I used it on my 2002 CL-S and it worked great. Took a little muscle, but I got it out. I don't need it anymore so I'm selling...I literally used it for ten minutes tops to adjust the springs.

This is what it looks like:

If someone has the Helm's manual for a first gen, please look it up and see if this tool will work.

Thanks,
chikai

Yeah my trunk is the same way. It wont fall unless there is wind or if i'm on a hill. Well the bars I got now are from AcuraAutomotiveParts and they were like $30. I dont really know if they are any thicker, but then again I have'nt been able to take the original ones off to compare the two. But if and when I do get them off I'll compare them and let you know VXCL.

Chikai, I Pm'ed you again so just get back to me.
