how do i get the top mount off the shock? When i try and turn the bolt, the whole inside part of the shock turns.

Do I just have to compress the spring a lot and then use a wrench or do I have to use a wrench and an allen wrench?

also, can i put the front wheels back on w/out the shock assembly so that I can remove the rear shock assembly?

Fuck you guys...lol. I know what an impact gun is, i've just never used one before, nor did I know it was called that.


And to all you haters, I got the front springs in today. I kinda like the raked look, so I may keep it that way.


just kidding, rear suspension is tomorrow's task.

good job...the back would be a lil bit easier except for those nuts that hold up the shock from the top.

Tip before you start unbolting the top 3 nuts for the rear...put a lil towel around there so that once u got the nut off it wont fall inside the body of the car.

Yea, i absolutely love the shifter. I've had it for about 4 months now and I can't imagine not having it. I love how the prelude shifter was my first mod...lol

why is it so hard? I imagine the actual swaping of the springs will be easier thou because I have done it already before. That took a while to figure out yesterday.

The rear is easier. Plus the springs aren't as compressed as the fronts.

cuz the rear seat doesnt fold down, u pretty much have to lay in the truck.

put ur car on jack stand.

Ok, working on the rear springs today and I am having trouble getting the bottom mounting bolt off. I have been liberally applying liquid wrench and it still doesn't budge. Do I have to wait a long time with liquid wrench, or do I just need to get stronger?

The bolt isn't too rusted by the way, just won't come loose.

be very careful, borrow a torch of some kind and get the bolt extremely hot so its bright orange then try to get it off quickly

I tried to use my camping stove but I was too afraid to let it get too hot. I need to get a better wrench and try tomorrow.

I couldn't get the rear lower mounting bolts off the other day, so I took the Ack to a shop to have him install the rear springs for me. The guy said he would have it done by the end of the day (Tuesday), but he didn't call. So I called him Wednesday morning and he said that he had snapped the lower mounting bolt while trying to get it off and that hopefully he should be able to find one by Friday. Now my question is, should I have to pay the labor on the fixing of the bolt that he snapped, because the more I think about it, the more it seems unfair?

those bolts snapped on 90% of the guys whove done suspension mods where removing it was necessary.

you can try and give him hell to not charge for the extra labor...

The easier way to get to the bolts on the top back is just to take out the seat. Once you take out your back seat and the metal backing. The tops of the struts are right there. Im finishing my shocks tomorrow. Hopefully. Assuming it does not snow or rain.

Yea, it was the bottom bolt that i couldn't get off. Didn't even try the top ones since it wouldn't have matter if I got them off or not if I couldn't get the bottom ones off. It doesn't matter anymore, I picked up my car already, paid $250 to have just the back springs installed $140 was for the spring labor, the rest was for parts and the replacement of the bolt The good news is that I finally got my drop, so no more 4x4 action. Pics will come later, I'm pretty embarassed about how dirty my car is and it has been off and on raining all day, so I'm not very modivated to wash it.
