sport shift?
sport shift?
the 3.0 comes in sport shift option right? i was just wondering because i went to the local acura dealer and seen 2 different 3.0's and they werent sport shift, its a dumb quesion, but just makin sure... thanks and mucho HO HO's to all!!!
What he is trying to say is that the 97-99 CL's dont have the option for the SS (sport shift).
They started this on the newer '01 models, but I am sure if you really wanted it that it could be done.....for a lot of money, but it could be done.

I say hold out like I am. I am waiting for Acura to sell a 6 speed tranny, then waiting a year for them to work the kinks out, then purchasing one. Timeframe - 2 years from now. If not, well, I did testdrive the new Maxima 6 speed while in El Paso, Texas 2 days ago.
Does that let you know how I feel?
All I have to say is, I swore off Nissan products years ago, but I am entitled to change my mind - and I will soon!!!!

Got my 99 some time mid 98...and no sport shift option then. Figuring this was the last 1st Gen CL year, I think your outta luck. You can always downshift yourself...just make sure the rev isn't too high already
The electrically controlled 4 speed is basically saying that it is an automatic car. Meaning that you can leave it in 4th gear and it will electronically shift itself. <- basically what an automatic car is
The sport shifter only comes on the newer CL's like I mentioned above. If you really want it that badly, you can always either swap another transmission in for yours...which probably means you might have to replace the engine too..Or you can take a look at level10 and see if they have a SS kit that will work for our CL's.

well, i dont want to go through all that trouble, i just thought that the 3.0 came with it, well that dosent change my thoughts that much, but ss mode would be so much more fun, anyways, thanks, and mucho HO HO's!! peace

Like all of these guys said... no sportshift on the older CLs. The TLs did have them, but they also had the 3.2L engine while the CLs only offered the 2.2/2.3 and 3.0. The 2.2/2.3 had a 5-speed manual and the auto while the 3.0 had the auto only. Like tw1112 said, the electronically controlled auto just means that while your in drive the CPU will shift from 1-4 for you.
dajuice... if you really want a 6-speed CL-S, you should buy it this year. They are only making them on an extremely limited amount of them, and I'd be surprised if they produced them for the next year. They are basing that decision on how they sell this year and with the exception of a few hard core guys mainly on this board, I don't think sales will be all that great. I say buy one this year or go for the Maxima!!
