Spoon ECU

Do you guys know anything about this? I just got my tax return back and am willing to buy unless one of you guys gives me a reason, namely, if it is an interchangeable part between a cl and a 2.2 accord...

Because it will be there if/when he does anything else to his car. But if he isnt gonna do anything else to it, i say put the money towards something else.

Running those (Spoon, Mugen, Jun) ECU's and chips, are a thing of the past. They were popular before programs like Hondata, Crome and Uberdata came along. You will aways make more power with one of these programs and a proper tune.

Plus many tuners with ROM editing software already have Spoon, Mugen and Jun maps saved, so if you wanted to have one of those programs instead of having your car dyno tuned, they can do that too.

I have Hondata and I ran a Jun program to brake in my B18C after the build and then had it dyno tuned and made 17whp over the Jun map.

If you already have engine mods done, then you can make some decent gains by replacing your ECU with a chipped OBD1 ECU. This in turn can be adjusted to your car's needs in terms of timing and added fuel using some of the programs mentioned above.

A base s100 from Hondata is $245 and you can probabaly find it cheaper through a vendor. Then all you need is for someone to solder it in. I'm sure you have a friend that could do it for free. And finally all you need is someone to load in whatever pre-set program you would want to run. A competant tuner shop could do this for next to nothing and takes less than a minute to do if you have the ECU already out of the car.

Uberdata is basically free, all you have to do is download the program to a laptop and then you can plug it into your ECU. Crome is a little more, but it has features that Uberdata doesn't. People usually get better results with Crome and Hondata.

Then later on when you have more money, they can dyno tune your car. Which typically cost between $200 - 300.

I highly doubt that Spoon ECU will make any power and you'll probably burn a lot more fuel as those chipped programs seem to do that.

My buddy had is bone stock B16 dyno tuned with Crome and made 144whp as opposed to his baseline run of 130whp. Now that was a bone stock motor. Since every motor is different, there's no way to tell if some ECU off the internet is going to make power.

all its going to do is waste gas and make your bumper black. Also... you are opening a whole can of worms when you convert from OBD2 - OBD1. Get an exaust and a CAI. They will give you the best bang for the buck.
