Spoiler problem... Installed

Ok, well, The spoiler came in and yes it is, in fact, a 1st gen CL OEM spoiler. The problem is, it came with no instruction, no manual, and no template. How much would a body shop or Acura install it for?

no more than $150-200 or if it's already painted shouldn't be more than $100 or so

the outer holes are marked with indents on the inside of the trunk lid.

just drill out to that diameter.

remove the trunk lid liner..

did you get a little piece of cardboard with a curve on one side with 2 arrows?
thats what you use for a guide for the center holes.
mark a line down the middle of the trunk and then put the piece of cardboard vertically against the trunk and move it to where it fits best.. the arrows will indicate the spots you need to drill..

the led power wire hole will have to be big.. like 1/4" (dont quote me on that) ..dont be scared..it has to be done to fit that rubber grommet..

the power wire u sneak through the 2 parts of the trunk lid to the drivers side..and meet up with the rest of the wires on the drivers side trunk arm.. then be creative and lead the cable to the middle of the trunk

to hook up the brake led bar the in-car middle brake light led will have to be unplugged .. its hard to miss ...

use zap straps to clean up your work

i used gasket stuff on the bolts and holes to protect from water seapage..

change the position of the trunk springs to the other position so your trunk opens properly (its too heavy on stock setting)

this honestly isnt a difficult job..
all you need is a socket wrench and a drill...

Good luck with it though, Ghetto. A few of your mods haven't gone right the first time, hopefully this one is different.

Haha! I'm probably the only one here that can start a 2 page long intake thread without getting flamed. At least I have fixed all my messed up mods. Thanks, hopefully it will go smoothly!

Spoiler Installed!

Just finished installing the spoiler!
I honestly have to say it looked like a chick car without the spoiler.

And the best part, this is the first mod I have done that didn't fail!

@ moderators: can you please rename the thread, "Spoiler Installed!"

Thanks again elkay for the little DIY. I would have taken pics to make a DIY but I was too concentrated on not messing up.

Well, now all it needs is a tint after school on Monday and it's done!
for now.....
crazy mods this summer for sure.
Wheels, drop, lip.

Thanks! I'm still debating about getting a drop but then I need shocks, struts, camber kit. And I still want that smooth ride. I was sooooo close to buying those Neuspeed Sports tho.

shocks and struts are the same thing
honestly, its the biggest chunk of money you can throw at your car besides an engine swap but prolly the best. it's the only one you can really feel while driving....good or bad i guess depending on your preferences. some people like the boat like ride.

^ Hmm... a while ago when I asked what the difference was between shocks and struts someone told me that struts are for the front and shocks are for the rear. But yeah. Springs, struts/shocks, and a camber kit.

I never saw that or I would have flamed whoever posted it, like dicorp said they're differnet for different suspension types, but when someone on here refers to struts or shocks, they're the same

There are two positions / settings for the trunk springs..
look inside the trunk..where the springs attach.. you should see two notches..

any tips on how to get them to move? I tried for a few minutes earlier but couldn't get them to budge... I did however see the second notch where they should be...

I don't really see the need for the new springs. The trunk still pops open and stays all the way up when lifted. Just gotta be careful when I close it. Regardless, I'm going to see if I can install them easily.

if you don't see the need for them, I'll gladly buy them from you... after three years of getting hit in the head by the trunk I'm starting to get tired of it.... plus it's a PITA when you have your hands full and you press the trunk open button and it just pops open and the lid stays 99% closed...
