speedometer issues
speedometer issues
I have a 1997 2.2 CL 5sp and the speedometer is off by 10mph (its reading higher than actual speed) and my mother has a the same car with an auto trans. and hers is 5mph off (same way, reading high). I was wondering if anyone else was having this porblem and if there are any ideas as to how to fix it.
I already ran the tests in the Acura electrical and service manual and they all passed.
And yes my mom drives a CL, who do you think turned me onto them.

your tire sixe usually has an effect on this... smaller tire combo than stock speeds up speedomter.. larger tires slows it down from actual...
or if you change your gauges... thats really all I can think of!!!

In the Acura Shop Manual (yeah it was spendy) it gives you a test sequence to check all the wiring connections (readings on a volt meter). And I am running stock tire sizes and rims. My CL came from Vermont so I am thinking some of the salt may have corrded the vehicle speed sensor and its giving a false reading.
I need to find one of those friendly radar boxes to check for sure, or a shop that has a dyno. The latter may not be very easy sense dyno's are rare out here in Idaho I think. Well if I figure anything out I'll let you guys know. Wether its a new speed sensor or speedometer.
