SparkPlugs

so after searching the threads a bit i came to the conclusion that the NGK Iradium (spelling!) is the one to go .. i was passing by the dealership today and just for the heck of it i went in to price some plugs and there's this advisor that i know (nice guy) who told me they dont have iraduim they only have regular ngk for 18.00$ each. when i told him i want iradiums on my car he started explaining that the distributor can only supply a certain amount of current and by puttin iradiums they will be useless since they wont have enough current flowing in !!!!! doesnt really sound correct to me, is that right ??
p.s i bought this stupid tool to set the gap of plug, i dunno how to use it ! its round and how am i supose to measure 0.44 ? do we eve need to set the gap ?

I'm not completely knowledgable about our distributers, but I can't imagine that would really be a problem. Why would they make plugs you have to get a new ignition setup to run?

Usually people who get those plugs already run a different dizzy with external coil and all that. BUT, I don't know...

Also, you just slide the tip of the plug around the round gapper until it stops. Read the number where it stoped. If it stops shy of .44, then open the tip until it reaches it. If it's too wide, push the tip in very gently on the table and do it all over again. FYI, those aren't the most accurate way of gapping spark plugs.

Also, some spark plugs don't need gapping, but if you got NGK's then they might. And 18 dollars a pop is A RIP OFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get the same ones at a parts store and it's only 1.99 at the most.

i read a couple more threads and i think people use iradiums with regular coil and stuff and still say that they feel difference !
but about 18 bux i know i'll grab it from some shop but the thing is that they are almost the same as the iredium price for like 6-7 bux so why not go with them if any results follow !?
and how can i make sure that ngk's need gappin or not ?? so the tighter the gap the stronger the spark or the other way around ?? i really tried to do understand ur directions but it doesnt pop in maybe i have to have them inffront of me !! anyone any pictures ??
tanx alot by the way

the round gappers are pretty accurate.......you can use iridiums but unless you run an ignition system, they are going to perform the same as stock.

He said at the dealer they were charging 18 dollars each for regular plugs. Which is why i said it's a rip off.

so how does the gappers work since its accurate?! and do we even need to gap NGK's or any other stock plugs that we can get for the car ?
and i guess the advisor wasnt wrong ! so since my car is completely stock the iridiums wont be any different from stock plugs! is that a fact ? any other plugs u guys would suggest for a stock 3.0?? i need to do this by tonight hehe

haha .. true that but i think even if ur car is moded up to the neck but u have the stock coil still no difference, in other words u need after market coil to be able to actually use the iradiums !! funny how so many of my friends use iradiums on their cars like two weeks ago one of them put them on a 97 maxima and they say its great !! hehe

Agreed totally!!!

I tell you what though if I paid 18 dollars for a spark plug I would tell you I noticed a difference too, even if I didn't, cause that is alot for a plug to not notice something.

the side of the plug where the spark arcs, you insert the smallest side of the gapper into there. then run the plug around til you hit the desired gap. in your case it's 0.44. YES!! gap them. I changed the plugs in my girls civic a while back. I could not find my gapper so I said F'it just slap them in. they were the expensive NGKs so I thought they were pre gapped.....WRONG! after like a month here car started bogging out, spitting and actin shitty. well long story short, didn't know what it was, took it to a shop for diagnostics, hundred bucks later,"over gapped plug causing cylinder misfire".

Honestly, you Make your self feel like its working better. Most pple feel the gains of New sparkplugz, not high perforance ones. Mind over matter.

i agree, most people feel a little extra "life" in the car, not b/c of extra power, but from power reclaimed from standard maint.

frame Damage !!

so i got regular g-powered ngk's and since i needed an oilchange badly i decied to do that aswell .. took it to my buddies house, now its so cold in this damn city (-15 or something lilke that!) we had to fit the car in the tight garage on an angle to close the garage door.. now there wasnt enough room to fit the lift and we decided to lift it from the big grooved bar underneith the engine. (Bolts at the front, under the engine at the jack spot and goes to the back of engine) i had a bad feeling about it but i still did it, and when i was trying to open the oilpan bolt, cranked it too hard since it was frozen as hell and the car moved a bit and the bar got dented in completly and the car almost crushed me !! hehe yeah so after when i was checkin it one of the edges of the bar is dented in from the middle. the other edge is fine .. the back and front of the bar dont seem to be effected.
only if i wasnt so lazy and put stands under the car ! how bad do u guys think it is ? should i just put it on a hiost and hammer it back out or is it removable so i could get one from junk yard or something ?? oo and do u guys know what is the bar called ?

p.s. the gap for every ngk G-power is .040 and i had to increase the gap for all of them, the car runs fine .. i dont feel much difference but nwayz i didnt have the chance since there's snow and ice everywhere !
