Spark plugs installation....
I'm thinking about installing new battery, spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor myself. Everything seems easy enough, except for the spark plugs. Is there any special instruction i need to follow when installing them?
I searched for information but most of the results were discussions about NGK vs. Bosch and Platinum vs. Iridium, etc.
On that topic, should i get this NGK single Iridium spark plug?
Or which one in this list should i get? If Iridium-tipped SP's are better than platinums then why is it that the OEM NGK plats are $15 whilst the iridiums are only $8???
thanks...

dont over torque your plugs and get the iridium oem are always more expensive just because there oem. other than that everything else is pretty easy
o put a lil grease or oil on the threads so when u gotta take them out like 5-6 years from now it wont be too hard to take out.
also my mechanic said densos irdiums are alot better than ngks but i have no proof that they are or arent.

spark plugs are pretty freakin easy if you have the right tool. You'll need a spark plug socket, which can be aquired at your local autoparts store. basically you take out your old ones and put in your new ones. Just dont over tighten them or do anything stupid and youll be fine. torque specs for my 2.2 is 13lb/ft IIRC, but just use your good judgement if you dont have a torque wrench.
As far as spark plugs, Ive heard that platinum is better than iridium and vice versa. The difference really comes down to personal preference. personally, next time i change my plugs ill probably go with platinum.
good luck

also you're supposed to apply some dielectric to the spark plug boot (the part of the wire that attaches to the plug) and to the top of the plug itself, this wil help in preventing arcing. you can pick up both anti-sieze and dielectric grease and the counter of any parts store. They come in little packages costing about 50 cents or something and one little package should be enough unless you got a v12, it was enough for my 3.0.

NGK IRs for the win.
If you do not have a torque wrench, use your fingers to apply the preasure. When they start to jitter, you have enough torque. Don't wank them in there, or you will hate yourself later. Take your time, you will be fine.
