Soon to be a 97 5sp CL owner
Hey whats up!
Im not new to hondas/acuras, but this will be my first CL i have owned. I have owned 1 CB and 2 CD Accords, so im somewhat familiar with the territory.
I currently own an 06 accord sedan 6sp, an H22 Swapped 3rd gen prelude 4ws and a mint 3rd gen Prelude 4ws all stock (31k original miles!)-ive owned 15 hondas.
I will be picking up this car in the next few weeks:
http://modules10.dealercarsearch.com...spx?id=2704293
It has 150k, clean carfax and a bunch of recent maintenance. I plan to drive the piss out of the F22 for 60-70k miles, then it gets the H22 treatment.
I really need this car to prevent me from racking up so many miles on my Accord (100 mile round trip to work everyday)
really looking forward to getting this car.
Just a couple questions:
For doing the H22 swap, the thread said to use prelude pedal assembly-how come? Does the CD5 TB make a difference?
Drivers side mount issue with H22 swap-How come the stock one has a hard time fitting? Just use the Hasport CD5 mount?
I will post updated once i get the car April 27th.

Welcome, there are a number of h22 swappers that can answer your questions, but it may take them a bit to find this thread. I do believe that the hasport mounts fit fine. Can't wait to see what you do, sounds like you're very knowledgeable
For doing the H22 swap, the thread said to use prelude pedal assembly-how come? Does the CD5 TB make a difference? Not without porting and fuel upgrades. Dont forget some light tunning.
Drivers side mount issue with H22 swap-How come the stock one has a hard time fitting? Just use the Hasport CD5 mount? CD5 H22 swap Hasport mount is a perfect fit

Thanks for the info guys.
I bought the car last week and i must say, i really like it! Reminds me of the 2 94 Accord EX's i once had about 5-6 yrs ago.
The car itself is just about what i expected minus one minor rust spot and a few door dings. It runs great and the interior is in very good condition.
The H22 swap will come once the car has like 220k+ miles (right now at 154k). I plan to drive the hell out of this thing the next few years!!!
I have a few minor issues that are cheap and easy to repair:
front suspension: minor "clunk" sound at low speeds over bumps-struts/springs seem to be fine-maybe an UCA or ball joint issue?
Stereo-has the stock head unit-need an upgrade ASAP! What are the rear speakers? 6x9? they sound a little blown.
Valve cover-i guess im a perfectionist, but i hate a bad looking valve cover, even on a stock car. Looking for a 94 accord EX wrinkle black one if i can get one in good condition
Wheels-well, im not really a fan of the 97 2.2 wheels, would like to upgrade to the 2.3 ones.
Exhaust-sounds like i either have a leak or one of the heat shields is messed up.
Idle problem-have a minor idle surge from 1k-1.5k. Im guessing either the IACV needs to be cleaned or there is a small vacuum leak somewhere.
passenger side interior door panel-has some wierd stretching/bubbling issues. Trying to source a used panel with cloth interior has been pretty difficult (cloth interior is pretty rare as you probably know)
Long-term plans:
H22-want to have extra power but keep the F22 transmission for cruising.
Rust repair/paint-like i said, it has one small spot of rust that will grow over time, but not too bad. However, i REALLY like this dark red paint. Its in really nice shape and dont want to destroy it with a shitty re-paint.
Please give me some opinions/suggestions

The suspension clunk is most likely a bushing, rear speakers are 6x9's yes you have to take the grills off from inside the trunk to get to them they use a star key to hold them down. If you have an exhaust rattle, it's definitely the heat shield

Yes - they are totally great cars. The first thing I did was a new head unit and 4 new speakers - highly recommended. Inexpensive things to spiff it up a bit include de-badging acura and 2.2 CL from the trunk. Clear corner lights if you can find them are a nice upgrade from the stock amber ones.
Do you have any suspension plans?
And the red one's are real nice.
