Well, for $7 bucks...he sprayed them. There is a taillight tint Rockblocker is selling (somewhat like window tint) for $50. That tint seems to be a more glossy finish than the spray.

you can use model car window tint, and get a good quality high gloss NON YELLOWING clearcoat spraypaint (krylon, etc) and they will come out like glass. but you have to sand the lense with 1500 or 2000 grit sand paper before or it will not stay on. and use light even coats, wait till the tint dries, then use the high gloss clearcoat. 1 or 2 coats is all u need of that. then wait till it dries totally 1-2 days, and wax.

i did this on my old school prelude, and they looked perfect. im just too scared to do something that perminent to my tail lights.

for 12 bucks you can go to an art store and buy that tint film thats the same as rock's smoke kit.. i tinted my tailights for like four years ago since i was in high school..just a little tip instead of painting the taillights

1. Wilp already outlines what to use, and the EastCoastCL used the same process.

and this was brought back to life why?......................

Ok so let me get this straight. first you sand down your tail lights, then you (stick) on the tint, then you apply like 2 to 3 coats of the clear coat letting each dry a few hours in between> correct or am i all wrong about this?

no its a spray.. you sand down the lights with 1500 grit sand paper. than you clean it off with alcahol. then spray 2-3 even coats on each light.. wait for them to dry then you spray on a non-yellowing clearcoat. then wait for it to dry before reinstalling.

if you put on clear coat and you see after it drys that you want it darker....can you sand off the clear coat and apply more tint or not?

and is there a way to compleatly remove the tint??

ive never used it.. but from my prelude board i was on when i first did this to my old lude, they said it didnt come out as good.. but im sure its about the same. just as long as you clean it good and wait for the coats to dry before applying another one it should come out like glass. and dont get a cheap clear coat. get something expensive.

well i the only thing i found was this Krylon crystal clear ( non yellowing).i dont remember how much it was i will have to look at the recipt.i didnt buy it cause it was cheap i bought it cause it was the only clear coat from Krylon that i saw. As for the medel car window tint,I went to some hobby shops and all i could find in that section was a glossy black but i didnt think thats what you were talking about. So i guess i will order that stuff and try it out on some old tail lights that i have first.

I dont know to much but I sprayed my lights and they looked like shit too dark and not glossy at all. I put a little elbow grease into it and used some cheap 3M Rubbing Compound and lightened up and put a hell of a gloss on them. I love it. Try a little rub and it should shine like kids greasy forehead.
