Smog Legal H22 swap?
Is it possible?
I was talking to my dad about getting work done on the car, and he said we might just go to Atarco and pick up a 50,000 mile F22 from Japan so I wouldnt have to worry about it. Might as well take the opportunity and get a H22, but he would want it to be 100% legal and be able to be smogged.

I've been out of the jdm h22 world for 4 years now, but most jdm h22's comming over are obdi (there might be obd2 if its a late enough model, not sure though). Since all CL's are are OBDII you might have an issue with that. Theres another thread active right now about this very topic from a guy in MD. I'm sure some CA guys will have some advice - i doubt you will be the first person in CA with an obdI in what sould be an obd2 chasis.

yes. you can make it legal. one you need someone to wire everything for OBDII. Make the EGR functional. Then you need to get the motor registered. Then you might need to put two catalic converters to pass inspection. Anything is possible with the right amount of $ and knowledge

and with all my searching ive found that the OBDII USDM motors that have papers around here are about $2500-$3200. its annoying..
Oh and when the time is right. let me know, i have extra swap parts
