Smelling gas coming from the engine
Smelling gas coming from the engine
Tech question...
I went to Vegas on a "hot" weekend. It was at least in the 100's F. Well, with the AC blasting I started to smell gas in my car. The vent was set to "fresh air", in other words, air from out side. It got really bad to the point I was going to pass out. I went to an Acura dealership and the specialist told me that it's common in our year CLs and Integras. Apparently when it gets hot outside, the gasoline in the charcoal filter (purge valve and canister for emissions duty) doesn't evaporate the gas too well and so you get that smell. He says that there's nothing you can really do. This is just something our year CLs (maybe even our gen of CLs) didn't get fixed.
Just wanted to know if anyone has ever experienced this kind of thing and what was told to you...and if not and you do for the first time...at least you might now what's going on and ask your mechanic about it.
