Slammed Differentials

I was wondering if any one with slammed cars has had any problems with there differentials. i was talking to my mechanic and we were talking about how dropping the front of our cars will mess up the differentials and how most shops will not warranty your differentils when they rebuild your tranny if you lower your car. Then we got into somepeople putting shorter axles to compensate the lack of hight. any one have any input? or has any one ever put on a shorter axle? do you recomend a shorter axle?

the diffs you speak of are foujnd on FR and 4WD cars.. our FFs have differentials built into the transmission itself............... in the case of our stock CLs there is none, so in essence an open diff...............

when lowering our cars the thing to really worry about are the header and the oil pan if anything

OK in the case like this, which slipped my mind for not reading it

good luck finding halfshafts that are just right, thats right, we technically dont have an axle, its 2 CV halfshafts connected to the transmission/CV joint......... they bend if you look at it stock, but it'll be OK if you lower it, because it isnt exactly that big, I mean 2 inches at the most, and at the length of the shaft, were only looking at a few degrees of variation.............. nothing to worry about, and like I said before our CLs dont have differentials to start with, just the CV joints for steering and all that, mechanically speaking an FF layout is a complicated compared to a FR layout

but anyways with our cars you dont really have to worry about it, your mechanic is just trying to squeeze some cash out of you............. thats why I never go to a mechanic unless I totally need to

rent some tools at Autozone or whatever and DIY, or pay the money for a good performance shop, the regular mechanics shops tend to not waqnna deal with this stuff

there's an easy fix for that: buy coilovers and put the car near stock height when you take it in to get a new tranny
