sigma tires..what can you guys tell me?
When I bought my car it came with Sigma tires. I don't know much about tires, and I have never heard of Sigma. I'm going to have to be new tires fairly soon, and I was just wondering what you guys could tell me about them. Thanks a bunch

They do have a web page, www.tbcprivatebrands.com/sigma/
I looked up some local retailers, and they seem to be an off-brand. I would prob. not reccomend them unless you are strapped for cash. Good color choice on the ride BTW, looks likw we have a lot of the same mods (mines a 3.0 tho!)

All I know is they are made by goodyear, I believe, I just can't recall. But either way they are not good. I bought a set of these and they wore out extremely quick. I had bad camber, but still even with bad camber 1 month is fast. They do grip well as they are soft but that's the drawback.
Hope this helps.

When i purchased my 1999 CL it had mismatched tires! 3 of them were 'Michellin Energy' [the guy at Acura said they are one of the best tires, about $125.00 a pop] and the other was a Sigma with a lot of tread on it. I assumed it was a nice, and probably expensive tire, because of the tread design. It looked really nice. Made the car look fast!! haha. But then i was told that it was a descent tire and wasnt all that!
I didnt want to spend the $125.00 to a michellin. Since i'm getting new Wheels and Rims in a few months.

I've been tire shopping lately and haven't seen that brand before. I had a friend in the tire business a few years ago and he filled me in on a few things. The tire companies spend a lot of $$ on product research and in making the tire molds. When they discontinue a design, sometimes they sell the molds to an off-brand mfgr like Sigma. Sigma will use the molds for a few years until they buy another. The problem with knock-offs is that sometimes they use a lower quality rubber that wears out faster.

i had a set of the toyo proxies for about a year and a half and it worked out fine... but i had to buy a pair because my front two tires went bald on me... so now i have two toyo proxies on back and two pirelli P4000's on the front. the pirelli's are really nice! grips like nothing. probably the P6000 and the P7000 are way better though... a little more pricey.
