Should I get new gauges?

If I increase my HP by 100, so it equals 300HP, should I get new gauges that will show that? Thanks for any help.

I don't know of any gauges that will show how much horsepower you have...unless "This car has 300 HP" is printed on the face of the speedometer or something, lol. I really don't think there's a need for you to change your gauges if you add 100 HP, which brings up another point. How do you plan on adding 100 HP to your car? Nitrous or something?

What I mean about changing gauges is so that it will show speeds like 140, 160, etc. My friend is gonna install new performance parts, and a entirely brand new exhaust for a couple hundred dollars.

hahahahahaha...funny post...you can always put masking tape on the gauge face and put whatever speed number you want...

gear ratio...please look it up...its connected to your speed sensor not your "HP"...

how are you planning to increase your engine by 100HP???...custom exhaust???

Like I said earlier, you don't need new gauges. I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but I really find it unlikely that your buddy is going to be able to add 100 HP with an exhaust and some "performance parts" unless nitrous is on that list of parts. Can you elaborate?

rofl, hes thinking like how my friends think. that your speedometer's top speed shows how much power you have.

LOL @ this thread.

Your needle will still show your "real" speed. Not the speed that your 100 hp will give you.

And unless your friends list includes the words "Nawz" "Turbo" "supercharger".... Good luck with that.

here's the thing. you're never going to go that fast. ever. the car isn't geared for it.

lol your transmission will blow before the day that happens, plus our gauges go up to 140. anything over that is just excessive and not going to happen with just 300hp

when i say "geared", i mean it literally. not figuratively. your transmission's gearing will not allow you to drive that fast. it's a four speed automatic, designed for optimal power and fuel economy in realistic speed ranges, i.e. under 70mph.

are you kidding me? You have a lot to learn young jedi. You need to learn how to create horsepower, simple bolt-ons and exhaust will get you maybe 15 hp to the wheels, and your car has way less than 200 horsepower to the wheels. Your car will never go 200 mph, and you don't need guages that say it does, your speedometer on your car is limited to about 140-145 anyway

I wasn't going to reply, but dude, you're 16? Seriously, even if you did get 300 HP out of a CL (which you won't), you have no business driving that car unless it's on a strip. I'm 19, and the fastest car I've driven was a 400 HP Corvette, but I was being followed by my dad at the time because he and I both know that I don't have the experience for that power even after 3 years of driving. Get used to driving a moderately powered car first before you try to go 200 MPH (in something besides a CL :rofl)

Damn bro, that's a tough way to learn. Glad you're alright though, and good to see it wasn't the CL.

I wish it was that easy, but we'd all be dead if HP came that easy. But yeah def have a lot to learn, we had a member who swapped a 3.5 block, type S head, headers, exhaust, nitrous, and only put down like 230 hp to the wheels without spray, it's not as easy as you think, especially with a honda motor

im sorry, but hondas/acuras just arent meant to go that fast. if you really are planning on having that much power/going that fast, theres a lot of other factors that come into place, especially considering your car is 10 years old. trust me, lots of things can go wrong when your going that fast, ive learned the hard way(blew the intake manifold on my dads altima)

your 16, you shouldnt be even considering driving that fast. yes i have to admit i have broken the 100 mph mark a couple of times. but never past 110. but at those speeds you are traveling hundereds of feet per second. there are many things to consider like cops, losing control, your car ect. i know that one of these days, i will look back and say i was stupid for even going that fast and lucky nothing happened to me. but you just got your license and prob your car. your not even experienced yet. and this is why insurance rates are high for teens and teens are more likely to get in a carsh than any other age group. FYI: leading cause of death for teenagers are motor vehicle accidents. think twice about dumping money into your car to make it go faster.

I had my cl up to about 125 or so at one point. I was on an empty 4 lane about 30 miles long. Its scary, those cars are not meant to handle that speed without serious suspension mods.

That said, your not going to get a crapload of HP, so why not spend a little on a nicer suspension setup and get the handling that will make your car more fun to drive every day.

First thing I did when I bought my CL was run out and get an intake for it - wish I had put that cash into suspension first.

If you do infact get an extra 100hp from a new exhaust and mystery bolt-ons, do let us all know your secret.

you're not going to get alot of HP out of this engine, especially with a few simple modifications. You're 16 and probably don't understand how unobtainable those types of numbers are on our engines, but hopefully you'll learn fast

hahahahahah....still laughing after 24 hours...

just put a number "1" in front of every number on your speedo...so you will be traveling at 140 mph while everyone else is doing 40....that will show them
