Should I get Headers?

hi everyone, my original plan was to get some DC headers TOMORROW. But come to think of it, I was wondering if it is worth it? I wouldn't want to spend 400$ for headers if it doesn't really do much besides a couple horses. Any suggestions?

Um, they shouldn't be $400

And yes they help, but they're better used if u get a full exhaust to go with it

I already have a magnaflow cat-back exhaust. sounds loud already lol. don't need to attract more cops. It woudl be $400 plus installation though. Should i go with it? how much gain do u think i can expect from it?

IMO I wouldn't do it

I'd rather just get a cheap ass ebay intake for 30 bucks for the 'sound'

and invest another 2xx in sway bars that'll 'really' make a difference you can feel

then the rest to take out your girl on a nice date or two

Do you have the 2.x or 3.0?

Regardless, $400 is a ridiculous price

99 3.0. What would be a decent price and would the benefit cover the price? i don't know much ahah. the guy at the shop said "headers should give u 20-25 more hp". i doubt it. He also said exhausts should give 20hp, but i don't feel much idiff with my magnaflow.

Much chepaer options. I personally got the SSAutoChrome headers cuz they're supposed to have the best fitment, they run about $175 or so.

Headers will give you about a 10-15 hp gain tops that's with full exhaust and most likely a high flow cat as well

easy to install? does it just need a screwdriver? lol. anything more than that wouldn't be easy by my standards.

it sure looks better when you pop your hood, but I wouldn't buy them solely for the HP gains, which are minimal at best.

bolt ons such as intake, header, exhaust are kinda useless in my opinion. i never got to doing it on my CL. my lude has all 3, couldn't really gauge the power increase over stock though. intake is the best one, sounds nice. exhaust attracts cops. header doesnt do anything unless its custom made and you're going for an all motor build.

so yah, get ebay intake and a muffler if you want. skip the headers.

Headers do help the motor breathe better, but like I said they will only really compliment a full exhaust system

most headers are OEM spec replacements, minimal to no gain.

custom header ftw

i just modified my stock intake, so it sucks air like AEM ones. sounds as good. Aren't DC headers famous for their quality? thats why they cost an arm and leg? Well if it isn't reallyworth it, i guess i should just get sway bars instead. ahah.

Oh, i already read the noob guide. but i wanna to know from those who have accord rear and side lips for your CL, which lips do not require any modding? or minimal. i'm tired of seeing my front lip just sitting there in the garage lol.

Anyone seen this?

Oh it might be legal, up until it breaks after the secend day. Thumbs down for ghetto turbos. Anyway, back to DC Sports. They are a good mid-range brand. Not too expensive, not too cheap. You want to see some expensive headers, then check out Toda, J's Racing, ARC, etc. 400$ for headers is not terrible, but not good. Your choice on buying them, but you'll probably get about 5 horses to the wheels, love it or hate it.

I got quoted a ridiculous amount of money to install headers on a 3.0, because it's a transverse V6 and apparently it's too hard to get to the backside.

theres the obvious reasons why no one should get this turbo kit and thats simply because its cheap and it looks pretty janky. but can anyone point out some of the specifics just by looking at it? (im seriously asking..lol) i mean honestly if i was a complete noob (which in many ways i am) id prolly buy it without consulting the experts here.

as for headers, ive heard a lot of bad things about meagan headers. i was gonna go ssauto but my meagans were a bit cheaper. i think i paid like 140 or something. and they fit perfectly with no modifications. but it sounds nice with my magnaflow and intake.

but everyones right, headers will only benefit you if you have the whole manifold. a lot of companies will try to tell you that the exhaust alone will add 5 horses and the intake 10 and the headers 20 but dont believe them. if you want to get real power........get a faster car. haha

when it comes to turbo stuff you get what you pay for. cheap price means cheap welds
on piping, cheap turbo, cheap BOV, cheap manifold, cheap intercooler etc... what you want
w/ a turbo is smooth boosting. no spikes in boost pressure, and you greatly increase your
chances of that happening w/ cheap parts. you think your pushing 7 lbs. of boost safely
and one day you punch it for whatever reason and your boost spikes up however many lbs.
on your stock internals cause of your cheap wastegate and KABOOM! no more fun. thats why its better to just do it right
the first time. saves a lot of headaches. shopping around for deals on each individual
quality part and piecing together a kit is really the best way to go, unless $ is no problem.

thank you for that explanation. when i first saw that linnk in this thread i thought to myself "my god that thing looks like shit". hahahah. the turbo looks hella small. it looks like turbo that youd get at a flea market or something. hahhaa.

its tempting for all budget modders but in the long run, youll end up spending more on fixing the mess. that also goes for headers and any engine mod for that reason.
