Shortcut for black housings

Just thought i'd share this with you guys because it's a hell of alot easier than taking the bumper off. Yesterday 99CL/william came over and we swapped black housings for stocks since i'm selling my car. All we did was undo the 2 top bolts then the 1 side bolt and we were able to reach a small saw underneath and cut the bottom 2 supports. (completely uneeded anyway) It took about 20 min with a dull ass saw compared to the 1-4 hours of removing the bumper. This way you can always take the headlights back off in 2 minutes if they decide to fog or anything.

BTW-williams CL is tight. bronze volks, recaros, and pimp fiberglass setup in the trunk

really, you would think that the bumper stops will help with keeping the lights from bouncing and jomping, but do they affect it at all?

yeah, 3 supports is plenty to keep the headlights perfectly in place. I forgot to bring my digi to my parents house that day or I would have taken pics of both our cars.

when i got into an accident boht lower mounts broke on one and 3 on the other. on bump roads they moved around. and with my xenon projector setup the bouncing cutoff was very annoying. i do not reccommend cutting them at all to save 10-15 mins tops to do it right. it will take at least that long to saw the mounts.

NO it doesn't bounce around at all. I cant even move it with my hands. It's not critical at all when there is still 2 supports on top, and 1 on the side. Maybe if the side mount was gone it would bounce, but 3 is enough to keep them tightly in place.

I think VXCL said one of his side mounts broke, so that might be why his bounced. (he said 2 broke on one side, and 3 on the other)

i might try that, 3 supports should be plenty unless you're off-roading

the main reason why it was noticable was becuase of the xenon projectors. u will see ur cutoff move the slightest bit, not a halogen beam pattern though, becuase their is no real distinct cutoff. im not sying they moved alot, the slightest bounce was very annoying. bottom line is it will take just as long to saw the mounts then to take the bumper off n e ways. and if u are ever going to covert to any type of projector retro i would advise against it. i dotn know about u but i can get my bumper off in 5-10 mins tops depending upon if the bumper lenses give me a hard time. then its more like 15.

im just sharing my experience. if u live somewhere with perfect roads then go right ahead, but in the nj/pa/ny area i come accross some torn up roads and it pissed me off alot.

you've got a point bud I just couldn't get my own bumper off in less than 2 hours tho I probably could now since I know how, but I would never be able to do it in 10 min

the beam pattern has no distinct cutoff like a projector so it would be minimal to unnotticable. any projector would be a diff story halogen or xenon.

wow vxcl, now i know what you mean about how it would be 20x more noticable with hids. I was driving my dads E500 benze the other night, and his shit has stock sport suspension, so it's kinda stiff, but still really smooth. anyway, his car is all stock, and the damn hids go up and down alot if you are paying attention to them. So yeah, i wouldn't suggest this if you have HIDS.
