shock sensor on stock alarm?

Has anyone put a shock sensor on their stock alarm? I want to beef up my current alarm. Last year my spoiler/emblems were stolen and the alarm didnt even go off! Anyone upgrade to a aftermarket alarm? I heard u can put these alarms in the interior of the car too as a pain generator and these super loud things on the outside called 'air horns'
anyone have any info??

The stock system sucks!!! Basically the stock alarm system is just keyless entry thats pretty much it. If you are look for protect for your car get your self a VIPER or CLIFFORD car security system.

I would just add a shock sensor to your factory alarm for now unless you want to spend some serious dough. I think there are instructions on had to added a shock sensor around here somewhere. I want to do it too so if you find them post em up

Actually the stock alarm is more than a keyless entry system. But, It just has really basic features. The stock alarm system is made by Alpine. I just bought a shock sensor and will be adding it the the stock set-up. Look on the Car Talk forum, there are two "how-to"s that I've seen.

I am also looking to add the following:

Window & sunroof close modules
Back-up battery for alarm
Secondary siren
....and some sort of hood protection, either a mercury switch or DEI hood lock device.

When I had my alarm on and opened the hood it went off. What I am saying is I don't think you will need anything to protect under the hood.

Pain generator? Does that mean what I think it means? Like, a car assailant will experience a shock or something if they touch the car? That is AWESOME!!!

Could you explain what you mean by that? I want one!

A pain generator is a pizo siren that puts out a constant high pitch sound that is approx. 130-140 db's or higher. And after like 10 seconds inside the car, a person starts incuring permanet ear damage. Never heard one, don't really want to, but it actually hurts your ears.

hmmm i think shocking the person sounds better. Or is there any chance we could get some of those flame thrower things like they have in Africa or wherever. You know the ones where you try to break into the car and flames shoot up from the bottom of the car burning the thief. Actually i think if the government was strickter on punishment car theft would go down alot.

I'm sure that you could go to a local alarm/ car stereo shop and have them install the additional modules for added functionality to the stock alarm...

my suggestion about the alarm thing after having my stereo stolen last week would be to hook up a second alarm with pin switches on the hood and trunk and hide a small 12 vold lawn mower battery or something to hit, so when they get under the hood and disconnect the battery it will still be going off. See the post in the 1st gen section for how they got into my car.

adding a shock sensor is easy and a cheap way to better guard your factory alarm system. Just take out the fuse box and there is one single yellow wire you have to tap and then your set. Its been done on the cl-s and tl-s. the instructions are on the cartalk fourm somewhere.

best alarm idea i've seen are putting strobes in the car and having like a fogger/smoke generator go off in side the car so the fooken thieve can't see once the alarm goes off.

what you guys probably didn't know is that our alarm is made by alpine. my friend knows Alpine inside and out and he told me thats what it was. i have no proof yet, but i'm almost positive he's right.

instead of a fog machine how about a tear gas machine or something like that and make the doors and windows lock so he is locked in side that would be some shit

So we can upgrade our stock alarm? Thats cool, where would we get stuff to do this from?

I like the flame thrower idea, and NOVA's idea about the strobe and fog... that sounds like a freaky club scene, but it works.

Maybe I should start coming up with new and innovative ways of stopping car thieves; I could corner the market on gag alarms.

You are right it is Alpine............I posted that at the top of the thread.

If you pop open your keypad, you can see "Alpine" printed on the IC board.
