Shift Lock Switch/Brake Light

on my 97 3.0, the shiftlock switch and brake lights both stopped working, is that the result of the switch thats located directly behind the brake pedal that gets released when you press the pedal?

I had this problem in the past at the same time when i was having an issue with my calipers getting stuck, and once the technician released the caliper, the problem solved itself, and the mechanic told me the shiftlock/brake light werent working because there wasnt enough pedal pressure., now the problem is back again, any ideas?

I'm not shure about the cl, and how their switch is done (weather it is physically behind the brake pedal or a pressure operated switch)

But that was indeed the problem I had with a 92 volvo that had the switch mounted in front of the prake pedal (the pedal would rest on it when not depressed) Had to replace the switch, That may not be any help though.

I had the same problem with my 98 3.0. It's the fuse for the brake lights. The shift lock senses that the brake is not being pressed, because the fuse is blown, that's why it locks up. The problem may also be, if the same thing happened to you that happened to me, that one of the horns had a short. The horn and brake lights share the same fuse, so if you tap the horn and it has a short, the fuse blows. One way to test it out is to put in a new fuse (20 amp I believe) and touch the horn. If the fuse blows, then its one of the horns, you have to disconnect one of them or fix it.
