Shift Knob Question

I have a 2001 TL shift knob. Can this knob be used on a 99 3.0?

Its a new knob and I really want to use it if I can.

Dude, go pop the old on off and give it a shot. Just pull down firmly on the shift boot and it will come unclipped. Then just unscrew the factory shift knob and your in buisiness.

I doubt it will work on the 3.0 (automatic).

The 3.0 shifter required a button to be pushed in before the shifter will move. The TL shift knob doesn't have a button.
