shaky/rough ride

This morning, on the way to class, my car started riding rough when I would press on the gas. By rough i mean a steady shaky feeling that you could hear, kinda like a thud noise. It continued to do so stedily whenever I would accelerate. If anyone has any info on what this could possibly be, please let me know, thanks.

Im pretty sure its not the tires since it was only when i would accelerate, an it became worse, the more i accelerated.

Dealer checked the mounts - they were OK. They suggested a front brake job (they did do it) & and alignment (couldn't do becuase of after-market wheels).

hmm I am thinking your bushings are done... had this shaking thumping thing going on with my old mazda mx6. try and find a place to check your alignment... also check the bushings for the wheels. if they are loose they will cause a lot of vibration.

Try balancing your tires. On the alignmect you can go to Sears or Wheel Works cuz they got the adapter to fit 17's & 18's. If yuor tires are unbalanced, you'd feel it more when you accelerate.
