Service Check Connector Tool??
I want to check the timing on my 97 CL. The shop manual states that I need to connect a 'service check connector tool' to a harness under the dash. Do you really need this tool to check the timing? Is it expensive?..........Thanks

our ECU automaticly bitch-slaps the timing back to what it considers normal when it is adjusted, so you have to jump the little blue service connector with a paperclip.
When you do this the ecu wont try to fix your timing adjustments. BTW the connector is right under the dash on the far right hand side.

Thanks.....I thought that all you had to do is loop the connector with a paper clip.....This is my first import car.....I want to make sure that everything is ok before I turn it over to my better half.......This is a bone stock car and it wil remain that way........Thanks much

i thought the paperclip thing was only for the checking of the check engine light and the abs light, i never heard of the paperclip being used the same way to prevent the timing to change from the ecu but let us know
