seized suspension bolt

Hey I'm new to the board. I was just trying to install my new Tein SS coilovers and the 17mm rear lower strut bolt is stuck. I sprayed 2 coats of wd40 on it 2 days ago and 3 coats of liquid wrench on it yersterday and it still wont budge. Do i have to most the rotor/ control arms etc? Any other advice on gettin the bolt off?

cut it off, or torch it off.

You can get most any bolt off with a long enough breaker arm. Give air tools a shot at it too, not much can withstand the torque an air wrench supplies.

you are most likely stronger than any air tool. go with the breaker bar, and protect your knuckles!!!

Be prepared for it to snap off!

I've dropped 3 CLs (and helped on a 4th), and at least one bolt snapped each time!

If a bolt breaks, torch it out with a propane torch.

the bolt head is going to shear right off and then ull end up with the bolt threaded in the inside. easiest way its to just torch the rubber bushing right out with the bolt. then install new rear bushings.

Not one bolt broke when we did mine, and it's a 97. We used a portable impact wrench also.

Impact wrench will beat brute strength anyday. Reason being it rapidly "pops" the bolt instead of massive leverage.

you guys actually change your suspension w/o air tools? You gotta be nutz, if I don't have air I don't do it

If you live where there's snow/salt, you're almost assured that at least one of the bolts is frozen and will break!

I just had my car lowered and they didn't complain about any siezed bolts on my 97. They got it done pretty fast too, but then again they have a torch there and probably used it PS I'll have a new topic with pics soon!
