SCREWED...speakers too big/deep, please HELP!

Ok, so I guess i'm pretty much screwed. Me and my friend tried putting in my 6 1/2" Alpine Type R comps in today and to make it simple. They were fricking huge. Their mouting depth is like 70mm and it hits the window and the stock spacer is completly worthless.

Yea i kno its my fault cause i didnt kno the mouting depth of our cars, but WHAT CAN I DO?? i dont wanna sell these speakers, can i make my own spacer? will it hit the door if i do? thanks to anyone who can help.

make a 1" mdf baffle (spacer) that will fit between the speaker and the door mount. You shouldn't need to sell the speakers.

Yea, thats what I'm planning on doing, does anyone know the maximum mouting depth for our cars?

And, oh yea, is there any way possible for me to push the window track back a lil bit more? or will that just mess up my window going up/down?

If you move the track I'm pretty sure you can plan on leaving your windows all of the way down for quite some time.

d5cb5, did you just add on the mdf spacer onto the stock plastic one? how did you do that, did you just drill holes and have the screw go through both? Or did you just take out the plastic stock spacer and make a whole new one?

Also, what are the mouting depths of your speakers? i wanna see how much deeper mine are than yours. hopefully mine wil fit once i make the spacers

Guys, stick you speaker in the mounting location. When it hits, look at the gap between the mounting location and the speaker basket. Then get some MDF a little thicker than the gap, and cut a ring about the size of the mounting ring on the speaker. Screw the MDF spacer tot he speaker mounting location, and then mount the speaker to the MDF.

Or, just go buy the plastic spacers available at any audio installation shop for the space you need, and the speaker you need.

I ran into the same prob when i swapped out my 6x9's in the back. The magnet basket one the 2002 infinity kappa 3ways are MUCH larger than stocks. I had to push the trunk rods around to make them fit, but i did MAKE THEM FIT! Only problem is that the trunk doesnt pop up as much as it used to with keyless entry.
