RUMORS: H22 swap

I heard some rumors that someone had swapped an h22 on their 3.0. Is this possible? I have not research this myself, I know about the 2.2 and 2.3 but never heard of a 3.0. Or was my friend just joking!

I read your post but it was not you cause you specified it was for your friend. My friend told me he heard or saw pics of a h22 into a 3.0 and he clarified it was NOT a 2.2 or 2.3

What do you mean no mounts needed? I dont think its possible to use the stock mounts, the h22 is alot smaller than the j30a

you've got to be kidding about the b16 right?

Also, yes it's very possible, we've looked into it on my car if my tranny goes soon. We took a look at an engine bay of a prelude next to my car, it looks like the mounts might be similiar but some custom fabrication will be needed to move the motor over to the left just a tad.

it possible. my friend did it with the 3.0 accord. you have to custom the mounts and alot of other little stuff. if i were you, i'd go to a junk yard and strip the engine bay of a prelude.

a b16 in that big of a car? yeah i'll admit the b16 is fast if your in a crx but a jap spec h22a has more torque than a jap spec b16 civic type r engine. my friend has a turbo h22a swap civic and it runs low 11s. an engine that small in a car that big would be like having a tacoma trailing a trailer of a semi truck. sure a b16 can be built up but a h22a can be built futher. a b18c5 maybe. . . . but still spend the money get a h22a. if the b16 is faster why is honda's official accord racecar use a h22a motor (debored to 2.0 for higher compression). if it was faster wouldn't they have put a b16 in their racecar?
i'm not hating or anything man, but i don't want to go get the b16 swap and realize you wasted the money.

well first off the b16a in japan isn't much different then the one here, unless you are talking about the b16b.

2nd, throwing it in a CL would be just stupid, the motor won't have enough power to get the car moving even w/ a turbo. The H22A has a MUCH fatter torque curve making it a perfect swap for this car.

Just take a look at what honda does, they throw b16's in to Civics, not preludes or accords, they put the h22 in those, now do you see why they do that?

what have you seen them both run in? Where they both stock motors? Or was the b16 fully built while the h22a wasn't?

The h22 is the superior motor, there is a reason it's in most of the top drag hondas out there.

both civics.. both worked.... either way like i said.. its just my opinion.. i didnt say i was right, just my thoughts.. and I am not doing it because i do not foresee my motor going anytime soon...

If i had the choice i was thinking that that would be the wya to go... thats all... its finished...

question of swaps... if your motor blew... would anyone ever try rippin out everything and rebuilding with a small block? it would take alot of $$ with out a doubt... but I seen an 85 bmw 3 series with a small block 350.. no lie and it was so powerful and light it blue away NOVA running a worked 454... curious to know if that swap would even work... sounds crazy.. but if accomplshed could be anbsolutely insane!!!

Actually most of the top drag hondas used B18C1 because of the weight compare to the H22A. I know a couple of guys with H22A in there Civic said that they've spin the slick threw the whole 1/4mile. But the H22A is perfect for the CL, the weight and power balance it out.

stef runs a h22a, kubo ran one for a little while. It's a good mix between the h22a and the b18, but alot of people are looking into destroked h22's now. I think it's gonna become the next biggest thing along w/ the 2.0 b series that are gonna be popping out.
