Rough Shifting !!

Hi Hi,
Someone in this forum has mentioned about running rough on the first two gears on a 97 3.0CL ... at least sometimes. Well ... in my case, I notice from time to time that when my car is nearly stopped, the car is kind of jumpy as I hit the gas pedal. Has anyone experienced the same thing as me ?? Is it the case people are complaining about rough shifting from the 1st to 2nd gear ??

Thanks

Hi Hi,
Someone mentioned that there's a kit to apply to the transmission ... some sort of replacement from the dealer in order to fix it. I wonder if that's true.

Yes..

I noticed that the first time I got the car. I took it to the dealer, and had them do a transmission service... its still rough, but not as bad as before. The dealer mentioned that the transmission needs a special fluid that Honda uses, not the typical stuff Jiffy Lube puts in. I wonder if he is just putting me on or what. Still, the transimission really is the low point on this car. Otherwise its a great car! If there is a way to improve this shifting problem please let us know!

I was the one who several month ago posted the message about the shifting and this is what I now know. I have had my transmission replaced, on warranty, including the replacement solenoids that were supposed to fix the problem and it was to no avail.
The problem is not it appears in the transmission but in the throttle delay.
You see Honda has always had trouble making a smooth automatic transmission. Accord owner friends of mine were troubled with harsh shifting. They got many complaints and breakdowns in the Legand so when the 3.0 CL came out they incorporated a pause mechanism that throttles back the engine to ease the rough shift. That is what jerks you around as much as the actual shift. The fix was worse than the problem, I think. I have talked to several mechanics and various service reps and they all say "That is just the way it shifts." The new 3.2 is supposed to have a redesigned trans. I don't know.
If you have ever owned any other brand of sport sedan it is most irritating because it seems all other makers have long since mastered the automatic trans. Maybe the new ones are better, I love everything else about my 3.0 so I am likely to purchase another CL in the future.
Sorry for the bad news.
