restoration of rubber trim

I bought my car used and the rubber trim that runs on the top of the car, above the doors wasn't taken care of real well. It seems to be moldy, or very spotty, I've tried tons of products to restore it to black with no luck, any suggestions?

Frequent vinyl/rubber moisturizer (Armor All, Formula 2001, etc). Need to keep it moist. It's on the top of the car, being beat on by the sun. It will dry out and look that way.
