Replacing rear caliper…

OK so I found my brake fluid leak on my rear caliper. Is there anything funky I’m going to need to swap this out? How is the brake cable attached?

Thanks guys!

All I can think about is needing a clamp to squeeze the piston back in.

I figured I was going to need to bleed. It's the rear passenger that is being swapped. Will I have to bleed all 4 calipers or just that one?

thanks!

Is there anything special about removing the brake cable from the rear calipers?

I got a question, are there any after market calipers for our car? I'm looking at getting Rotora slotted rotors but that of course doesn't include new calipers which I need, so how do i find some nice ones to go with the slotted rotors?

so then it's either BBK or buy new stock calipers and paint them? Man I don't want to have to do that.

cant u change the calipers from a legend gs with the 2 pistons if ur gonna buy new ones mite as well upgrade them a lil. sayin u have a 3.0 it should be a pretty easy upgrade and a lil better stopping power cause the force is more evenly spread out over the rotors.

yeah you're right!! So I can buy some cool slotted AM rotorsmade for the prelude and match them with the calipers for the Legend and that would work, right? If so I might be doing that very shortly!! What's the size difference between the prelude and the 98 3.0 rotors?

Just clean your calipers and paint them, it's a $30 fix

yeah I know, but I'd like to upgrade them also. So I might go the legend/prelude route. Has anyone else done this? I know it can be done I just haven't heard any stories of it being done.

OK so I've done my research and I've learned that the stock size for the 3.0 front rotors is 11.1in which is the same size as the prelude rotors. I got that info directly from the Acura website and the rotor is 25mm thick(1.0inches) which means it should have a 25T bracket not the 23T. So then I don't need prelude rotors and I don't need a new bracket all I'll need is the Legend dual piston calipers from the 93-95 GS. Now when it comes to brake pads I'm assuming Legend brake pads are needed to match the calipers?

So I'd run a setup like this
1. Rotora 3.0CL Slotted rotors f&r
2. 93-95 GS Legend Dual Piston Calipers in the front at least
3. brake pads for ?
4. Black hi-temp paint to make the calipers damn sexy!!

Are the calipers on the Legend GS dual piston in the rear also or just the front?

Here's some info I found about the Brake system on the 3.0 /2.3CL

Braking System .
Front Discs (3.0CL) Ventilated, 11.1 in (282 mm) diameter, 1.0 in (25 mm) rotor thickness
(2.3CL) Ventilated, 10.2 in (260 mm) diameter, 0.9 in (23 mm) rotor thickness
Rear Discs (3.0CL) Solid, 10.2 in (260 mm) diameter, 0.39 in (10 mm) rotor thickness
(2.3CL) Solid, 10.2 in (260 mm) diameter, 0.4 in (10 mm) rotor thickness

I thought I read they were the same size, but one guy said the edges were different or something, but yeah they probably are. Thanks for reminding me. So really all i need are calipers. Does anyone know if the rear calipers on the Legend are dual piston?

ya might as well go with the legend pads, not like its gonna break your wallet either way..

and im one of the fuckers that have done the prelude rotor/ legend dual piston caliper upgrade + the hub over rotor conversion, but hopefully ur lucky and have a 98+ CL so that you dont have to worry bout it

yeah all I need are calipers and brake pads but prolly not even brake pads. So I can go and buy the calipers at like advanced auto parts or something? Then they charge me some core price and then I give them back my 3.0CL calipers and I get my $$ back for the core charge?
