Replacing Distributor
I replaced the shaft seal yesterday and went to put everything back together and I heard a pop when starting the car. I removed the distributor to find that the two teeth on the end of the shaft had been broken off not allowing the rotor button to turn. Any ideas as to what I did wrong. I would love some input so I don't ruin my new dizzy.

Next time install the two teeth the right way inside the camshaft port! my guess is you installed it backwards or 180 degrees off and that way the teeth dont mesh right. Good luck on your new distributor!

I have the same problem and this is the 2nd distributor that has broken. I have a program on my computer called Alldata that shows diagrams of how it's suppose to go. Can someone please explain to me how it's suppose to go in.

When replacing my last inner seal I noticed my distributor did not sit flush, I would have had to tighten the bolts to get it to sit flush.
I took that gear off the end and flipped it, and the dizzy slid right into place. I learned the not hard way but this sound like what you did.
It puts too much pressure on the dizzy shaft and it will break before spinning the internals.
