Replacement starter : New, OEM used, or remanufactured?

Well I think my starter is on its way out (go figure, yet another problem)...and I'm looking at purchasing a replacement. All the ones on ebay typically carry a 1 year warranty regardless of new, oem or reman. New ones typically cost about 30 bucks more, but who knows about the brand. There's some oem ones with low miles about the same price as the reman's, but isn't it true our oem ones suck? Just curious what you guys would recommend...I'll be installing it myself.

Thanks

Don't matter. What ever is cheapest.

With that said, I would get it from a local place>ebay. Just for the simple fact if it does go bad, then you have a warranty that you can fulfill by driving. Not via fedex.

I bought mine from PepBoys and definately from local shops....you know when I was trying to hook it up and after 2.5 hrs of hard labor I kind of over tightened the wire connecting nut and the whole point kind of broke off.....and I was like dame...........sucked big time...had to uninstall it and took it to pepboys they juts replaced it no questions asked ..............that was awa some ...some times the local purchase helps out too....

If you are doing it yourself please be carefull when you are tightening the bolt to connect the wire...that this is real brittle and will crack/brake easily...

If your starter "clicks" when you attempt to start, the solenoid contacts are worn out. These are easily replaced. You can buy the contacts from Sherco auto supply and other locations (google for starter contacts for tips on repair/replacement).

Used parts are best bargain, but they may have same worn solenoid problem. This is about only part that wears out since load/utilization is pretty low on a starter.

good luck

Got mine through Napa for like $215.00 YAH expensive but came wit a 3 year warranty Plus parts here in Hawaii are generally expensive anyways. LOL.....

Oh & when installing, especially if it's the 3.0 motor, be carefull when taking out the the lower starter mounting bolt! It's hella long and a pain to get out.

I can't remember exactly how long it was but I think it was aroud like 6-8 inches or so. Didn't need any special tools. Just a ratchet with a small extension. Can't remember what size it was. Did the job like little less then a year ago.

Oh & yah ABC store is hella expensive Only good for the late night after the bar munchies. LOL....

Swapping starters is pretty easy, the 7th gen Accord starters fit too, swapped starters with 04accordcpe and they are 100% compatible, even though the part number is off by one digit.

Yeah just remember to put that wire back on or your car won't start
