Question replacement shift gear knobs?

I have a 97 Acura CL automatic. I was getting ready to put myself into drive and I saw a black screw shoot out of the gear shift knob base. Can't find that dang screw anywhere. I can change gears fine but the hand piece is wiggling like a puppy in a child's arms. I have the kind of gear knob that has the thumb button on the right hand side (not the top like some) and I may have to replace it. Can I replace the knob with a new one that has the button on the top instead of the side. Any recommendations?
Thanks.

Yes, you can, as long as the pitch and thread match.

P.S. This is the 1G TL section.
