Remote Starter

I recently overheard at work that remote starters are now available for stick transmissions... a darn good idea since we've had the coldest January on record and more to come. Just wondering if anybody could confirm this rumor... have you had it installed?

Thanks

Remote starters could always be installed on manuals, nothing new. You have to trigger the clutch wire so it will crank, and make damn sure it's not in gear.

It's not recommended due to the leaving it in gear on accident problems.

exactly, but most installers wouldn't do it until recently becuase now there is safegaurd built in to make sure ur not in gear. my friend had a brand new 00 ITR and got a clifford alarm with remote start. well 2 weeks later he was at a pizza place and started it. it jumped the curb and ran into the building.

remote starting was availble with the old Deringer alarms back in 91. someone I know had this installed on a 91 civic - his car was in his garage, he fell asleep and rolled over his alarm remote, the car had been left in gear and jumped damaging the front of his car and his garage door.

I left it in gear once...I know, what a dumbass

As long as you have the parking break up ALL the way, it will barely move. That's what happened to mine, There was a car in front of me too. I got lucky.
