RECALL NOTICE???? see inside

not sure if this has been posted or not.... but does this recall affect anyone????

From: Autobeat Daily
The Daily Report For Automotive Executives, Nov. 3, 2003

HONDA PLANS BIG RECALL.
Next month Honda Motor Co. will begin recalling at least
647,000 cars, minivans and SUVs to fix worn ignition swtiches that may allow the key to be removed when the automatic transmission isn't in "park," according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
News of the recall came three days after Honda unveiled an extensive initiative to make side airbags, antilock braking systems and other safety equipment standard on its U.S. vehicles by the end of 2006.
NHTSA has been investigating the ignition switch problem following 169 complaints and three injuries involving parked vehicles rolling away. Honda will inspect the switches and, if needed, install a redesigned latch plate, according to the agency.
The recall will cover the 1997-1999 Acura CL, 1998-1999 Honda Accord, 1999 Odyssey minivan and Acura TL, and 2002 CR-V.

I bet the Acura CL is listed merely because it has already had a recall on its ignition, so they are just gonna go ahead and rerelease the information to CL owners to clean up anybody who hasn't had the work done.

It can't be old...If you read it, it's dated as of today.

So, if by old you mean 8 hours then please ignore me.

guys... read my post first before replying with, "this is old".

the previous recall with the ignition switch for our CL's was due to the possibility of breaking down, NOT because of the key coming out while the transmission is not in park.

NOTE: this is a NEW recall.

yes, this was report was taken from today's issue of Autobeat Daily.

but i have not seen any official recall notice in the mail.

As far as the info we at Fox News has, it's certain CL's, and I am trying to get a little bit more infor on this because I just had my old recall repaired 2 months ago when my alternator went out. It seems as if its a new recall, but I figured they should have repaired mine correctly when Acura had it back in August.

I'll keep you guys posted as soon as I get fresh info on this recall.

you should use it, it relieves a good amount of stress on the transmission.

i just checked the owners link on the acura website. the only recall listed, for my car anyway, is the old ignition switch recall back in 05/02.

On the message it says next month so it probably won't show up and also they probably do it by car series. They have to make sure the dealerships have the part in stock and ready etc making sure the mechanic knows that the problem is. I think if they posted on owners link that means it ready for u.
