RECALL - ignition switch
RECALL - ignition switch
I just got this notice from Acura in the mail last week. I finally called a dealership today and they said there's a fire risk. Anyone else get this or know more about it?
I think Honda sent the notices in batches. There was a time when the parts were not available (because of the demand). You would need to call the service department first to see if the parts were available, and then make an appointment. There was a long list. This recall was for other cars on the line also.
The problem was that the tolerances for the electronic contacts were bad. People were hanging many keys and keychains weighing down and putting pressure on the contacts. Sooner or later the contacts were loose, and some people reported that their car engine shut down with no warning. I read stories were a person was driving on a freeway at 70 and lost control. This person was stunned and didn't know what to do and crashed into the center divider.
So, it's a good idea to get it done.

yeah, I had mine replaced last year. I never got a notice but from info received on this board, I called my dealer and they did the replacement.
I got a PHAT ASS ford escort with no A/C for my rental too!!!!

I had mine done after i stalled in the middle of two lanes going opposite directions and couldnt restart for a minute. That is a rather unpleasant feeling. I'm guessing ignition switch cause it hasnt happened since I got the recall done.

Is there a printable document, I never got one since mine was used. It is for ALL 97-99 Acura CLs right?
